lol hopefully I can keep it up :D

I'm actually kindof dreading the tiger and donkey ones, I've never been too good with non-conventional emotes :sweaty:

livius drusus
05-24-2005, 10:25 PM
Don't worry about the tiger, Zikes. The donkey is far more important. godfry's been harassing me about it for ages. :)

In other news, you continue to kick total ass. If anyone needs proof of that, all they need to is glance at your latest:

Real cheap, good quality stuff here, no fakes.

But wait, there's more! If you register now, we'll allow you the use of not one, but TWO more of Zikes' works of genius. His always handy :hm:, and my personal favorite, a phrase my very own father picked up in the good ol' US Army:

Yes, but, but... The stream! It goes up and down before climbing the rope! That's soooo irresistably adorable! I bet we'd totally miss that against the light background.

I see what you mean, but FWIW I think you made a good choice. :yup:

Zikes
05-25-2005, 12:30 AM
Thank you :D

To tell the truth it was a bit of an accident that it has that gray background. I've fallen into the habit of developing my emotes with a that color background since it's the same color as deviantART's, then switching to transparent before finishing it up. I showed livius the work in progress and told her I was trying to figure out how to make it show up on FF white and she insisted on keeping the gray :D

Skep
05-25-2005, 12:31 AM
It should be noted I'm not altogether fond of the gray background, but it's hard to show piss on FF white :hm:
Could you make it transparent but give a 2 pixel shadow to the rope to contrast with the piss?

He he... I figured I didn't even have to announce the darkmoonage. She's become an idiom all of her own at this juncture.

Who's :kokopele: ?

He's a Hopi deity (fertility and music) also known as Kokopelli. I became familiar with him a few years back when a Puerto Rican friend of mine got a Kokopele tattoo on his arm. The history of the figure precedes even the Hopi, though, and KP is a popular character all over central America.

Interesting. The smiley looks fine and dandy in Mozilla. I think it might be Internet Explorer. I just fired up the program (I am at home where I use Mozilla as my default web browser) and it looks cut off. I noticed the problem while using IE earlier at work as well. Methinks you have some troubleshooting to do.

ceptimus
07-30-2005, 12:52 AM
I think it's a combination of a slightly corrupt .gif file, combined with a browser issue. The smiley is 17x16 pixels, but some of the 'standard' smilies like :P are only 15x15.

I'll examine the .gif when I get time, but based on my workload lately, that might be a week from now. :sigh:

Oh, and I use various browsers, but I was probably on IE6 when I mentioned it before.

livius drusus
07-30-2005, 01:01 AM

Dupes, I'm afraid. I put an s (for symbol) in front of everything. It's weird because in the beginning duplicate smileytext would just display the original one. At some point, we crossed some mysterious vB threshold and now dupes get all htmly and fucked up.

You are very cool, liv. (Have I said that too much?) I think you are taking vB far beyond where its authors intended. :goodjob:

I've got a cunning plan to take care of that and more, Crumbles. :plotting:

Meanwhile, I've created a Symbolism category to house all the non-signs from the I Saw the Sign category and uploaded all the zodiacal symbols to celebrate Nil Desperandum's return. :)

That :gene: smilie reminds me of when I read a blurb in the Stars and Stripes (military newspaper) about a killing spree perpetrated by a guy named Gene Simmons, I went around convincing everyone in my unit that the guy from KISS had snapped and turned into a mass murderer. I didn't find out until years later that it was a different guy. :giggle:

August is not supposed to be a good month for smilies. You should save them all up (after tonight's exciting installment of course) until I can properly share in the thrills. :pout:
