I finally discovered that my Finland webpage made it onto google, about three hundred years after I submitted it ... yay! And in a bit of shameless advertising that will no doubt make the admins wince, I am going to link to it here.. feel free to sign my guest book (there's a link on there to some pics of Antti and I too if anyone's desperately interested). What I'd like to do though is put up some small forums specifically for English-speaking Finns and Brits living in Finland, but am not sure how to go about that. Could anyone give me any tips? (btw note to admins I am not going to try to poach posters.. really it would be geared towards Finns and expats only :)).

Congratulations! I brought your hitometer to 1001. I've very proud to have played a part and am not wincing even a little bit. I'm not crazy about the design (the background tiling is just a little too red and a little too low-res for comfort, and the yellow font is a bit ick, and the layout is a bit hard to follow), but the info is great. Especially the valuable Finnish phrases part. :D

For your forum idea you should probably stick with phpBB, which is free, easy to use, and has some nice default features. You also need to get on a real server (nothing fancy, just a shared account with a place like Lunarpages (http://www.lunarpages.com/) or A Small Orange (http://www.asmallorange.com/services/hosting/)) instead of that AOL nastiness.

heh yeah I will change the background I think :). I've just removed a shit load of the content as well .. though I left the Finnish phrases ;). I've got a board, but am having a nightmare with it so far ;).

well here is the forum but right now I am havign a nightmare trying to work out how to create categories .. ie I keep creating them but they're not showing up :(. I have Liv's permission to link to this though!
