Its been many months (some would argue years) in the developmental stage and I am closer to not having a website than I am to having one. Some of you have already heard the pitiful and woefully dumb reasons, namely that I am unable to get organized, and make the choices I need to make to get this off the ground.

Choices: there are simply too many, damn it. Everything from what to offer, how to offer it, what size, how many, why, where & when? What fabulously perfect name should my business have? How should my site look, feel and work? Quite frankly, I've been depressed all summer, in a good part because of this issue.

Well, I had to hang some pieces in an exhibition last week and I thought, "how unprofessional of me to not have a website, even if its just a page for people to go to". And because I had to print up some new business cards and had space for www., I figured "what the hell". I made a page, as a first step, with a promise to myself to work on it and make it better.

If you have comments, suggestions, ideas, cash, and/or technical know-how, feel free to speak up, keeping in mind that this is page 1 of the draft of a work in progress of a dynamic creative business enterprise.

So, without further ado: my humble page (http://www.mjones.picturestoposters.com/)

Letting your gorgeous work speak for itself is a fine beginning. I have no good advice to give you (I hired people for my good advice ;)), but unless you'd rather I wait, I'd love to link to your site in the FF "thanks and praise" post and the faq page. :museum:

Very beautiful artwork , as always.

As far as the site itself, I think that the most important question you need to answer is "What do I intend to do with this site?" Is it your intent that people will be able to place orders on the site, view a gallery of pieces that they would then contact you to purchase, read updates about forthcoming works, etc.? Once you know what the site is for, you can go about designing it to fit that purpose.

Oh, one concrete suggestion...give the page an HTML title so that it doesn't show up in my browser as "Untitled Document". :)

I may have more of a sense of what I don't want, so maybe I'm better off making it a process of elimination? You've given me some good food for thought here. Thanks.

Done. Thanks, again.

Thanks! Sure, go ahead. When I find and settle on a name, do the real site, etc, we can make the necessary adjustments.
