... to "modern" communication (in this case, email).
Our incoming email has been down all day today at work and I am unbelievably perturbed by not being able to communicate with people with a few tap-tap-taps on the keyboard, as I normally do.
I feel freakin' cut off from the world! What has become of me?

It gives you an opportunity to catch up on email you may have forgotten about or have not yet had the time to respond to. It allows you to clear your mind of the distracting event of receiving new email whilst still allowing you to fire off your own words. It helps you realize that the internet is here to stay, unlike what everybody (read: nobody) claimed. And it provides a tranquil glade of reflection in today's world of craziness.
In short, you should sabotage current repair efforts as well as preventing future repairs from ever happening. Only then will you be able to communicate with the rest of the internet-enabled society, via messages encoded in gift orders you place with your internet-enabled refrigerator (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=%22internet-enabled+refrigerator%22&spell=1). Surely you have one of those. I mean, everyone does.

The next step for Technology™ is to create a cellphone-toilet hybrid. This will undoubtedly bring about sweetness and light in a world where you can take calls and relieve yourself with the same labor-saving device, and even at the same time.
