How's it going?
Newb here but not everywhere. 28, M, live in South Texas, Psych student, work in social services currently. Love beer, BBQ, metal and guitar. Hate stupidity, unfounded arrogance and narcissism. Am oddly disturbed by Yaffa products...resembles milk crates too closely.
Currently in CD player: Edguy - Hellfire Club
Last Book Read: The Prehistory of the Mind - Stephen Mithen
Last time I got leers for playing the opening riff to "Enter Sandman" in the guitar shop - Last week.
Planned costume for Halloween: Steven Seagal
Workout plan to get ready for Halloween costume: 12 oz. curls and Twinkies.
I'm spent for now...

Hate stupidity, unfounded arrogance and narcissism.
You'll want to avoid me, then, 'cause I've got all three in spades. Excepting the 'unfounded' part, natch.
:welcome: to the FF.

Best. Generic. Intro. Ever. And I'm not just saying that cause I love twinkies and the opening riff to "Enter Sandman", either. You might dig our very own D. Scarlatti's journal (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/journal.php?do=view&journalid=26&perpage=10&page=#1) featuring (among other things) his adventures in bass playing and groupie perving.

Niche on, MacDuff. Meanwhile, if you don't mind telling it, I'd love to hear the story of your handle.

Well, it's a synthesis of a couple of things. When they came out (on the old Nintendo) I was addicted to Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge. Well, the character's name is Solidsnake. That's where the first part is derived.
The squid part is just a descriptive of my time in the Navy. A nickname for a sailor is 'squid'. So, I just put the two together and got Solidsquid.

Yeah? Well, "squid" is also a marine cephalopod mollusk (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-08-06) of the genus Loligo. What do you have to say to that, huh? Huh?!?

I used to think cephalopod mollusks were weird (mainly on account of the suction cups), but then I saw this National Graphic documentary and it totally converted me to love and appreciation for what marvelous creatures they are. Now I think they're adorable. :)
