It came up that the beheaded (guillotine) smilie might be displaying a spine. Is this true?

also what are good smilie creation programmes? How do you make them and can it be done for free?

Different breeds of smilies have different anatomies, you see, and all of them are adaptable on a pixecular level. So yes, that smiley might be displaying a spine.

Smilies can be made using any kind of graphic program, even something as simple as Paint, although you also need an animation program to make anything more than a single frame static smiley. Here's (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2883) a thread where we talked about which software we each use.

I also heard somewhere (probably here) about a PSP alternative called GIMP, but I haven't checked it out yet because my PSP trial hasn't expired yet.

I rarely use a photo editor for anything other than cropping and resizing so I've used cracked and/or trial versions of Photoshop, etc. over the years. But I generally try to avoid using cracked software just on principle and my most recent trial version (PSP) expired recently, so when I needed to resize some pics yesterday I downloaded GIMP. Naturally it's huge and complex like Photoshop, but it's completely free and no more difficult (imo) to figure out how to use.

I'm thinking of writing something about the anatomy of smiles with pictures of dissections like the Furby autopsy page (http://www.phobe.com/furby/).

Sure, I'll figure out the antomies of different kinds of smiles and draw and write about the autopsies.

I love it. We could post it as an article! :wriggle:

Don't forget the smiley processor working in tandem with HTML allows a smiley to be magnified and slowed down for detailed analysis:

Yes. I know I've still not gotten around to integrating the smiley processor in the test forum. Not enough damn hours in the week.... grumble grumble...

Don't feel bad at all, cep. vB 3.5 is dramatically different anyway, and when it goes gold (within weeks, probably) I'll put it up on the test server and we can go from there. :)
