I'm not much of a holiday-celebratin' type person myself, and only really celebrated the 4th of July in years past because it was a day off work. So, not much planned for the day with the exception of dropping by a festival-in-the-park thing to see some people who have a booth there.

Anyone have any fun plans? Grilling out and drinking lots of beer, then playing with matches and fire, perhaps? :P As a kid, I loved the old-style sparklers that lasted forEVER and you could "write" stuff in the air with them. The new "safe and sane" ones are just weak.

I had two parties to go to yesterday: one family, one with work friends. I went to the one with friends and let my sister do our duty at the extended family one. The party I went to was the 18th annual 4th of July pool party for the Flight Test Data Center; long established and at least 5-6 of the originals still attend. It's a nice, relaxed party. Since most of us in my department are scattered to various projects and we don't actually get to work together all the time, it's nice to touch base in that familiar setting.

I'm hanging out at home today. My new dog is a somewhat skittish pup, so I was reminded that she might freak out if any fireworks get noisy. So I'll make sure I hang out with her when it gets dark.

Well I happened to see this one first, dammit, so I'm responding here.

I'm not doing anything different, thanks for asking.

I am leaving momentarily to my mother's for the annual BBQ and voleyball-fest. :volleyball: I doubt I will see many fireworks.

I worked until 7 am, slept from 9 to 9, and now I'm chilling on the couch listening to the fireworks outside. I might pull on some clothes and check them out if they keep up for much longer.

In other words, no.

ETA: Except I don't have to work tonight, and that is a Good Thing.

I watched Yankee Doodle Dandy (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035575/) on Turner Classic Movie channel.

Naked post!!! :P :giggle:

Ahhh ... now that I've got that out of my system: yesterday was a long day. The kid was up at 7ish and we went over to some friends' for the parade, food, and fireworks. Oh yeah, and getting to see their 9 week old twin boys.

Long story short: good day, nearly ate too much, fireworks started late (10:15pm) and the kid slept through them. Yeah, and I had to get up at a quarter to 6 this morning to come in for a 10-hr day of work.

Good news: working 10s means this is another 3 day week for me! :woohoo:
