I was just perusing the archives there, and found this first post by someone who is also a member here.

Guess who, and please don't cheat.

Hello all,
I just found this board tonight, and am impressed with the intelligence and well thought out arguments I have found so far. I do have one concern though, and have not seen any reference to it , though it may have been addressed. Has Eternal offered any personal information? I get the distinct impression that he/she is a very young person and am worried about the emotional impact of these types of discussions on a possible child.

Also, could someone define "troll", excuse my ignorance.

Thanks, and I look forward to great discussions with you all.

I think I remember that post, too. Is it cheating if I confirm my suspicions?

Hmm... I'm not really sure what the rules are, so it's up to you. :D

I have a guess. I'll PM it to you.

Hmm, in thinking about it, I might be thinking about someone who asked with concern about devnet.

Message received, guess wrong. :)

If you want to guess in the thread but keep it secret, you can use spoiler tags like so:

Aside from my ignorance of who Eternal is, I might have said that it was I. But I know that's wrong!

Okay well, LadyShea wins that one for almost correctly identifying herself.

Someone else will have to do the next one unless I stumble on another first post, 'cause I can't search there.

Just pick a member here who's also a member there and find their first post. It's easy.

I can't seem to get the thing to look back past 500 posts. How'dyer do it?

JoeP

On a vB board: in advanced search, if you fill in the username, select 'ascending order' under 'sort results by', and 'posts' under 'show results by', that should give you the first post at the top.

I have one. (If the search is working as I think it is). This is an excerpt.

Our youngest and most recent adoptee is hit an miss, to say the least. He's better now though than when we got him, but he's almost a year old and probably won't improve any further. So we clean up after him. No biggy.

I don't know either. Can I post one even though I am unable to answer the currently asked question?

Didymus

I doubt many of these will be very easily recognised, since it often takes a while for a poster to develop any recognisable patters, assuming they ever do.

Therefor, I'd say go ahead, BUT this isn't my game, so you either Seek the Permission from Dungeon Master VM or, just go right ahead.

Since the Dungeon Master isn't likely to be up for hours, I say go for it, MC. :yup:

Sounds interesting. I don't have such access to IIDB materials.

I'd be curious as to what my first post there was, though.

Regarding your guess:
That's not her dog's name, but I guess it could be a different dog...

Who could this be, boys and girls? :D

Have fun reading Brown. You are correct that his work is far more nuanced than you might expect from Layman. However, you do need to keep in mind that Raymond Brown was, and his protege' John P. Meier, author of _The Marginal Jew_ series, is, a priest of the Roman Catholic church. As good as their historical work is, their end products are still tainted with their confessional interests. Keep this in mind when reading their works.

Just for the record. "Abdul Alhazred" at IIDB is not me. Some other Lovecraft fan beat me to it.

Forums where I am Abdul Alhazred: JREF, SC, PIE, here, and Moosie's forum.

I voted for Other as well. My favorite fruit is honeydew. It has to bee one of the sweetest fruits on Earth. Honrydew is abolutely delicious.

Guess who the above poster is.

Cheater! :D

I didn't cheat! I don't remember saying that, I don't remember the context, I certainly don't remember what sorts of discussions I thought would negatively impact a child. I just sort of recognized myself via the writing style.

Weird. What the hell was I talking about? I must be have been a total idiot.

livius drusus
07-17-2005, 04:21 PM
Well, I don't specifically remember saying it, but I'm pretty sure the one Didy posted is mine. And yes, I'm still excited when Rufus actually uses the litter box.

godfry, your guess is wrong. This person is younger and, perhaps, more exclamation-marky!

There's no way that is COAS. Not only is that not her dog's name, when did she have a "significant other" that wasn't her ex-husband?

No one has guessed my last one. Perhaps that's because she's not such a frequent poster. I still thought there was enough of her character in that short clip for it to be a reasonable test.

Here's one from a high-volume poster, here, at IIDB and at HH, and it's a longer sample.
Hi everyone. I am so excited to have found this message board. All of the posts I've read have been really thought-provoking, and I love the raport the members have with each other.

I am an oldbie as far as the net, so I think my nettiquite is pretty up to par, but please bear with me as this particular board has so many bells and whistles, it may take me a while to get the hang of the logistics of it. It seems really interesting and powerful, though, so I'm looking forward to using it more. I like that there's an introduction board, so I can do this "test post."

A little background, in case anyone cares. I was born and raised atheist, so I think I lucked out in that department. I love to study philosophy on my own and in school (even though my major is accounting). This particular semester I am taking an ethics course. We're only a week into the semester, so let's see how it goes.

Okay, I guess this post has been pointless enough, so I'll close.

JoeP

:hmph: Too many clues. You are right. But her postcount there is even lower than here - didn't know it until after I'd set the test.

Re the o.p. of this thread:
I figured it had to be someone like that ... to have even remembered Eternal from wayyyy back in the day on II! I'm not sure about the others, though.

Guess who this one is.

That was someone posting very personal stuff in the atheist testimony thread who is not amused to have her very personal post used for a game on another forum.
