Burnt popcorn has to be among the worst smells ever.

Dingfod
11-22-2005, 08:24 PM
I thought I was supposed to ignore ALL of the posters above me. Actually, what difference would that make in the way I post?

My Swiss Army knife has been in my pocket on two continents. It's the plain old, down and dirty, Tinker model, two knife blades, can opener, bottle opener, two sizes of straight-blade screwdrivers, a Phillips-head screwdriver, an awl, a toothpick, tweezers, and some sort of hook-like think I think might be used for pulling wire or sliding down a zip-line.

Megatron
11-22-2005, 08:26 PM
No way, melted plastic is waaaay worse... not to mention burned hair.

Dingfod
11-22-2005, 08:27 PM
Oops, I forgot it has scissors.

Sock Puppet
11-22-2005, 08:27 PM
Burnt popcorn is horrible, especially when the buttery stuff scorches on the inside of the microwave. I've heard you can scrape it off with a Swiss army knife, but it's not like anybody here has one of those.

Dingfod
11-22-2005, 08:30 PM
My Swiss Army scissors are broken, the spring broke long ago, now I lost the hinge screw.

Crumb
11-22-2005, 08:59 PM
Why isn't anyone posting in this thread anymore? Must be because I have you all on ignore now. :(

justaman
11-22-2005, 10:40 PM
Warren, that's too bad, man, I use my swiss army scissors for all my cutting needs. Losing them would be tough.

Dingfod
11-22-2005, 10:41 PM
I can't believe Crumb put me on Ignore... er, I mean, I can't believe Crumb waited this long to put me on Ignore.

Crumb
11-22-2005, 10:45 PM
They don't let me use scissors anymore.

Crumb

I forgot, my Swiss Army Tinkerer has a corkscrew too. I found out I can get a tiny screwdriver suitable for eyeglass repair and the like with a plastic handle that fits down into the corkscrew. It is $3.50 at REI. They also have replacement springs for the scissors for 50 cents. I think I'll send off for those.

I decided not to order those parts for my Swiss Army knife until I can find the damn knife. I thought it was in my locker, but it's not. I think I remember putting it in the driver's door pocket in the Trailblazer. I'll look there in the morning.

In a pinch, rancid beef tallow makes an effective replacement for axle grease. I do recommend you wash your hands thoroughly before playing with your pitbull after you've repacked your wheel bearings.

Thomas Moore (1779–1852)
Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms

Believe me, if all those endearing young charms,
Which I gaze on so fondly today,
Were to change by tomorrow, and fleet in my arms,
Like fairy-gifts fading away,
Thou wouldst still be adored, as this moment thou art,
Let thy loveliness fade as it will,
And around the dear ruin each wish of my heart
Would entwine itself verdantly still.

It is not while beauty and youth are thine own,
And thy cheeks unprofaned by a tear
That the fervor and faith of a soul can be known,
To which time will but make thee more dear;
No, the heart that has truly loved never forgets,
But as truly loves on to the close,
As the sunflower turns on her god, when he sets,
The same look which she turned when he rose.
