From your lips to God's ear, my friend. So what brought on this rush of optimism?

Well, unless the Repugnicans do something to seriously impress the hell out of me between now and then (which is an event that seems to have probability zero of occurring), Obama will have my vote, hands down.
Sincerely,
Goliath

So what brought on this rush of optimism?
Yeah, really.
What makes you think there's going to be an '08 or '12?

Well, I admit that it's pretty optimistic, but DAMN, he just rocks so HARD. I fucking LOVE him. I want things to be better, so badly...

Yeah, really.
What makes you think there's going to be an '08 or '12?Want to hear something even more paranoid? I have this nagging fear there may not be an '08 or later, as far as we can see, election regardless of outcome of the actual election this year. If you wish to read that as the election results will be nullified by martial law or altered by vote tampering, you are reading my mind. However, I hope I am wrong, which would be the usual outcome of most of my predictions.
Here's my paranoid conspiracy scenario: Election is held despite some new front in the War on Terra or another terrorist attack; Kerry wins popular vote by a slim margin, but Bush wins via the electoral vote again and there's enough shenanigans in the electronic and punch card voting states that it raises large protests by anti-Bush voters. The protests get ugly in clashes with police, the National Guard is called in to quell protests, which leads to more protests. Finally, Bush declares martial law, proclaiming it necessary to restore order and to fight domestic terra-ism.
Then... who the fuck knows what will happen after that? The Neverending War on Terra (Why does Bush hate Earth so much?) takes precedence over trifling things like mega-trillion dollar debt and such. Don't worry that we're out of money, we'll make more.
Back OT: Barack Obama, I could support. I hope. I hope.

Uh... you do know he's of African heritage, right?
It's not quite like being a declared atheist, but, damn, it'd be close to unwinnable. Even outside the overtly racist set, there's a big difference between "tolerate", "accept", and "vote for".
