Match.com, what bastards! I signed up an account with them several months back. I figured it would be a great help in finding a freethinking GF. I checked my e-mail today, and on the third of this month I got an e-mail from them telling me they have someone interested in contacting me. See the problem? I didn't know they don't do jack shit unless you pay $40 per month for an account. I don't know about you, but $40 per month so I can e-mail people and they can e-mail about love is way too costly. So I haven't even been looking at my account for more than a month. What's the point? I cancled the free account today(they let you post a profile and some pictures for free). I mean what the fuck?! Why can't they let you e-mail people for free if they let you post 20 photos of crap for free?!
Now I'm on a free site that has mail, messages, IM, photo posting and all sorts of other stuff. The problem is the person who wants to talk to me isn't on there, at least that I know of. What can I do? Match.com, those bastards! :fuming:

Paying $40 to find the love of your life seems well worth it.

No, that's not a one-time payment...it's $40 per month. Having been through the mill on Match.com, let me tell you it ain't worth it, and I got in for a incredibly cheap $10.95 a month (which six months later they unilaterally raised, without notice, to $14.95 a month). What you get is access to all sorts of self-descriptions.... You can attempt to open communication with a likely prospect, but that does not mean they'll respond. My experience is that 1 in 8 or 10 will respond and from that number, about half will eventually agree to a face-to-face meeting. From that meeting, you may actually establish an ongoing relationship, but the numbers of wash-outs are hideously high.
Additionally, I suppose I should forewarn you that some of the participants are on multiple matching sites (True, etc.) and have been there for a long, long time. Some people are just exceedingly hard to match...
I personally think you'd be better off to join some social group that participates in something innocuous that you're interested in....whatever that might be. And I met my current girlfriend through Match.com.

Nope, well not enough to know they don't provide free e-mail. Oh well, at least I didn't lose any money over it.
