OK, so I was really bored, so I went to this website, just to see how pathetic it was and how quickly I could figure it out.

OK, so I followed the instructions and picked three random numbers in a row and it worked--3 times in a row. So now I'm getting a little freaked out. Please someone, tell me how it works. I realize that those symbols only repeat about 1 out of a few times compared to the numbers 1-89, but still the numbers I picked were completely random and it had the right symbol every time. Ack!

Oh and BTW, don't freak me out more by telling me how it worked for you too. I want to know how it works. :whup:

It was wrong 4 times in a row for me... then correct 3 times, then wrong twice

so... umm... what does that prove? :chin:

Your number will always be divisible by 9 and 81 or less. All those numbers have the same symbol.

That you messed up. It should be right every time.

Nope it got all three right.

So how does it work.

Are you sure you are adding and subtracting correctly? :chin:

Yes... duh.. (ie) 28 = 10 from 28 = 18

I click the ball and it gives me a totally different symbol :whup:

Well some of the symbols look a lot different when they are smaller. But when I tried it the 18 symbol is there everytime.

Well, Ensign Steve is here and figured it out. All the answer numbers are multiples of 9.

55=5+5=10
55-10=45

43=4+3=7
43-7=36

So they simply needed to use the pertinent symbol on multiples of 9. Every time you click "Try again" it changes the symbols for the multiples of 9.

Unless you click "Try again" in which case the symbol for 18 changes and the globe will bring up the new symbol for 18 every time...as well as 36, 54, 81, etc as they are all multiples of 9.

Whew! :phew:

Thanks Crumb for figuring it out first. You're still the bestest! :winner:

And thanks Ensign Steve and LadyShea for working it through more thoroughly. :1thumbup:

At least now I know my math skills are OK. That makes me feel a lot better.

OK, off to find more strange stuff.

Thanks again, everyone.

Somehow I totally missed that Crumb figured it out way back. Sorry Crumb.

OK, Skep, what did I say about not trying to freak me out more?! :whup:

I'm not even going to look until someone figures out the answer.

That's an easy one too.

None of the original cards are in the second set of cards.

Is this (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2097) the same thing?

Crumb

Yeah that's the same one, but I thought you meant the card trick.

Which shows a bit how our memory works and why eye witnesses aren't always the best evidence. You focused on your card and your brain noticed they are all suit cards. When the next set appears it just assumes all the cards are the same as the previous image because they are suit cards.
