I'm at work. My back still hurts but it's on the mend, and most importantly, I have a Cherry Coke. I so love Cherry Coke. If I could marry it, I totally would.
Also, I really love smilies. I seriously feel this wash of affection roll over me when I see a particularly cute one, or when I find a new artist with a big ol' stash just waiting to be added to the hoard.
You know what else is cool? When people who know their shit talk about it in a casual way, like John Carter did about baseball over here (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3942), or Hot Sauce and Scarlatti over here (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3625).

Ensign Steve brought some friends from school over and we had drinks and went on a boat ride. She had promised them dolphins and we were totally able to deliver. I love that we see dolphins every time we take the boat out...I love that we can promise them because the sightings are so frequent. And no matter how many times I see them, I still love them.

Vanilla coke. Going to the library and finding a brand spanking new book with virgin pages that no other eyes have read, summer breezes, fruitella, kinder eggs (duh), good hair days, realising you have no chores to do for the rest of the day, 80's music (Ahhhhhhhdam Ant  ).
:workgold: Smilies. They're the dog's bollocks. :drunksgn:

No, they were following a tiny shrimping boat, we just knew they would be behind that boat and so Frankie headed straight there.
Oh and another cool thing, after a number of delays, they finally got the foundation poured for our house, and the framing lumber was all delivered. Very cool.

No dolphins, but my parents and sister came out to visit about 2 weeks back and we took a Mississippi river cruise out of Dubuque. They did get to see a bald eagle, which they'd never seen in the wild before.
Hubby and I borrowed a boat and putted around the local lake last week; saw several heron, turtles, snakes, and 2 osprey fishing (forgot to bring the camera though, dang it).

Oh hells yes. I LOVE sweet potato tempura. It's far and above my favorite of the tempura veggies.
Good luck with your shrimpy dinner. If you can find it, pick up a bottle of Aragosta to go with. It's an otherwise unremarkable Sicilian white which goes so well with shellfish it's almost hard to believe.

Not to throw a monkey-wrench into the works -- but I don't like smilies. Of course I recognize that this puts me in a minority here at Freethought Forum. However, it seems to me that smilies are:
1) A failed attempt at being cute (always a bad thing).
2) An admission that the user has nothing to say, or lacks the skill to use verbalize his feelings.
3) A trite form of expression.
I don't like IMHO or LOL, either.

You can disable all smilies by choosing "No" under "View Smilies?" in your user options (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions). The end result is that you'll see a lot of words between colons, but you won't have to be offended by the little images anymore.

I rode on the back of an ATV the weekend before this last one, ride behind the sign that said "DO NOT CARRY PASSENGERS!" Driving it was more fun (and safer). Bunnies reminds me of the WA state tournament though. The field in Seattle was infested with large brown bunnies that would not leave left field no matter how many balls were hit over there. I was surprised none of the umps ordered them chased off. I guess they didn't want the drama.

I am also trying to murder that fugly entertainment center by putting too many books on it. That bowing on the shelf is not a camera angle thing. It's actually fixing to break, and I don't even care.
And now that you bring it up, I have the stupidest CD storage system ever. It starts on these two shelves, continues, alphabetically mind you, onto one of those lazy susan style things, then continues again onto that wavy one.
So when I started taking my CDs back that the Little Muffin stoled, it was worse than Delaware. I can't fit them all any more.
I am not being dramatic. That was totally benign complaining, because as soon as I manage to off that entertainment center, I will be allowed to make myself a new, beautiful storage unit.

Serves: 4
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
2 cups fruit
3/4 cup sugar
Melt butter in 10-inch round baking dish. Mix flour, sugar and baking powder. Add milk and mix. Spoon over melted butter in dish. Heat the fruit with sugar. Pour over dough. Bake at 350° about 30 minutes until crust is golden brown. Crust will rise to the top around the edges.

Today on the spur of the moment, I left work early and drove to Hickory to do some shopping. Mostly I wanted to get to Michaels before the Halloween stuff got totally picked through. I also hit Barnes & Noble, Media Play and Best Buy. The total haul was an 18" resin skeleton; a small cemetery statuette; a coffin-shaped plastic box that I intend to refinish and repaint for storing odds and ends; volumes 2&3 of Invader Zim; Kaptain Kronos, Vampire Hunter; and an Echo & The Bunnymen CD. I also got a sore butt from being in the truck so long, but that doesn't count towards the haul - I drove the speed limit for most of the trip after all.

After I closed shop last night, 'round 5pm, we changed into our swimwear and drove to the beach. The Gulf has been very calm, no storms, so there were barely any breakers and the swells were gentle. Visibility was excellent and I could see the sandy bottom even 100 yards out.
There were some kind of fishies eating little krill or shrimps or something off the sand, and since walking disturbs the sand a bit, they would gather all around us eating the little critters, with no fear at all! We could touch them. The water was like 85 degrees, it was evening so the sun wasn't killing us, the beach we chose was all but empty. Fabulous time and made us crave more, so Frankie is signing us up for scuba lessons as I type this!

I don't know if it counts as drama, but if it does, it is "good" drama and anyway it is on topic.
I watched "The Offspring" today, which is the episode where Data makes the android "child," Lal. The end of it always gets me cuz I am a total sucker.
But here's the thing. I always think it's not going to get me, because it's all cliche and cookie-cutter and I've seen it a million times. Lal goes, "I love you, Father." And Data goes, "I wish I could feel it with you." Then Lal goes, "I will feel it for both of us."
:sarclap: Sweet, yes. But honestly, who didn't see that one coming? Once it gets to that point, I always feel like I've gotten past the hard part, and I am going to make it through the ep without losing it. Then Lal always sneaks up on me and goes, "Thank you for my life," and I turn into a blubbery mess.
Now I am watching "Yesterday's Enterprise" which has my uncle as the First Officer of the Enterprise C. The one AU Tasha has it for before she gets knocked up by that Romulan. This is also the first ep where Worf tries prune juice.

It rained pretty much all day at work. I wasn't going to stick around the project but my boss called and said someone from Traffic Services was coming to lay out the school pavement markings. This was at just after nine o'clock. So I waited and waited...
I went to get some coffee around ten. At the convenience store, someone recoiled from seeing me. They didn't say anything but it still cheered me up considerably. I went back to the project and started drawing (attached below) until lunchtime. At lunch, I went to the slightly less nasty McDonald's in Avery County where someone else seemed to take offense to my appearance and muttered something not quite clear. That cheered me up even more, which was good because the food was really not much better than going hungry.
After lunch, I finished the little drawing of the the whatsit and did the mushrooms*. Around two, the people I was waiting for showed up. They did their thing, spoke to me for a minute and then I returned to Boone and then home. I decided to take off tomorrow so it will be another three day weekend. Yay.
Since then, I've been watching Invader Zim. I hope to make some related smilies plus some for Nightmare Before Christmas this weekend.
* Edited to add that doing the mushrooms refers to the drawing. 'Shrooms have never done anything for me and I certainly wouldn't try them again sitting in a state owned vehicle parked across from a high school.

It's probably the fact that my clothes are all black plus the Doc Martens boots. My hair is rather disordered as well. My apperance isn't really that weird, but this is a pretty backward area and some people are just intolerant.

Winter trees would look great with skulls hanging from the branches like Christmas ornaments.
Back in the old Forney's Transportation Museum, which was a museum of old cars and trains and stuff, in the basement they had this big model train setup, and you'd be looking at that, and then you'd turn around and say WTF? because of the life-sized wax replica of a blood-spattered Alferd Packer directly behind you, sitting next to a little flocked fake Christmas tree, draped with what appeared to be a spine and some intestines.
They had like bought out the contents of this old wax museum, see, and just kind of threw the stuff around among the cars and shit. So there'd be some random wax famous person propped up in a car or on a penny farthing bicycle or something, and sometimes, there'd be some period dress displayed on a headless mannequin, and then you'd find the head later sitting on the hood of a car or on a shelf next to the fish or whatever.
Because of oh, yeah, Dell Canty's Fish Museum was the other submuseum of Forney's: A museum of mounted fish that a guy named Dell Canty had caught. That was a whole separate room, with its own sign reading "Dell Canty's Fish Museum."
Anyway, fucking REI or whatever bought that whole building and made it all dumb with rock climbing walls and shit because they suck.
I hate REI or whatever. But in a totally cold, hard, calculating way, not dramatically or anything, in case you were trying to say THAT.

On Thursday, we had our semi-regular Girl's Day Out in the beautiful mountain city of Tehachapi, CA. I found some simple ceramic bowls in an local art gallery. The photo doesn't do justice to the details of the pottery or the glaze; the green graphics on the light bottoms are in grooves cut into the clay, the circle of the foot of each bowl has two notches (the artist says it helps cut down condensation and the bowl sticking to smooth surfaces, but I think it looks neat, too), the drippy green on the bottom of the large bowl are actual thick drips making for interesting texture.
And if that isn't cool enough, by the time we were leaving the gallery, an Every Thursday street farmers market had been set up, where I bought those heirloom tomatoes (and a couple others that have been eaten already) at $1.25 a pound, hand picked that morning by the father/daughter team who sold them to me.

The most wonderful thing of the day, however, was when I complimented the woman running the gallery on two very unique diamond rings she was wearing. I guess she could sense my genuine interest and admitted that she had her favorite diamond jewelry piece with her (something about something her husband was doing with their safe at home...).
Her rings had caught my eye because the diamonds were slightly off-white and sparkled in yellows, gold and red. She explained that she prefers the natural colored diamonds to the colorless. The ring she pulled out of her purse had a very large (probably 4-5 carat) emerald cut natural cinnamon diamond. More red than the fairly common champagne colored diamonds, this was an example of true art of nature.
The gallery had only lameass flourescent lights so she encouraged me to take the ring outside in the midday sunlight! Oh my goodness, that thing burst out with so many colors it was absolutely mesmerizing. I told her experiencing that truly made my day.
I've thrown mushrooms out because I suddenly realized they were poisonous. I would try to make a tea and just couldn't do it anymore. Then I kicked myself for days because I threw them out. But I know if I hadn't I would just keep looking at them and not be able to use them. Then again, maybe it was a terrible waste.
I'm much better now. But the mushrooms are gone. :byecry:

She's great in the sack, too.

He's got a huge cock. I set fire to it once for a bet and even with 50% burnt off you could still use it to lasso a stallion.

You truly are warped in the head. You could join my club. You get special badges 'n' stuff. There's a special handshake and new members have to wear their knickers on their head for three weeks and only say the word "Wibble."

Must. Tell. Story. NOW! :wriggle:
*a bit of backstory*
Ok, every high school student in the state of Georgia is required to take Home Economics or Foods. I suck at sewing, so Foods it was. The class was spring quarter, last period of the day. Perfect! A slack class! The teacher I was assigned was this little bitty woman, you could scarcely imagine her drinking, much less doing an hallucinogenic drug.
Now, each class composed of larger groups, since there were only so many "kitchens" to go around. I was in a group with several of my good friends. We had this nasty habit of negatively influencing one another. On one particular Monday, when the assignment was handed out, we discovered that pizza was next on the menu. Fast forward two days. One of my friends, Beth* I think, said she had a grrrreat idea for a topping. Mushrooms! Not regular ones, but magic ones. Did this sound like a fantastic idea to a group of 18 year olds? You bet!
Friday rolls around, and it's time to make the pizza. We roll out the pizza dough and arrange our toppings. Beth pulls out a jar. Full of honey...and mushrooms? Eew. We were assured it was to hide the taste of the mushrooms. OK. On to the pizza it goes. Of course, such a strange concoction has garnered the interest of none other than our illustrious teacher, who says she can't WAIT to try our pizza.
Can you see where this is headed?
Oh shit, we're SO busted. And so close to graduation, too. Timer goes off, pizza is pulled out of the oven. we cut it up and quickly devour a few slices. This particular pizza ranks in the top 5 most vile things I've ever tasted. Teacher comes over to claim her piece. She makes a strange face after she takes a bite, but manages to finish the whole slice. A few other groups had figured out what we were up to and were snickering at us. TAG teachers came in an finished the rest of the pizza off. Fuck. One teacher was bad enough, but 4 was just comical.
Twenty or so minutes pass, and nothing happens. A bit disappointed, I decide to go to the restroom. On the way there, the hallway did the most peculiar twisty thing. I was now walking on the walls as opposed to the floor. It didn't last long, and I don't know how much of the trip was me expecting something strange to happen. We were all a bit let down by the after effects, but what can you expect when we only got to eat one slice?
Poor teacher let us go early citing an upset tummy. Never heard whether the TAG teachers figured anything out or not, but we were never reprimanded. We vowed next time to use more mushrooms. God we had some stupid ideas.
Sorry that the story is a bit anti climactic, but that's how it goes. It's probably a good thing, in retrospect.
*Name would have been changed if any of us were actually innocent.

Oh man, I'm gagging even as I type. You basically made cowshit pizzas and fed them to half the staff. Naughty, naughty minus. :dielaugh:

Today was rather uneventful yet managed to pass swiftly nonetheless. Apart from boring work related stuff, I listened to music, drew a bit and that's about it. Now I'm tired.
