View Full Version : Nun of the Above

Okay... From what I can tell, we lack a nun smiley.

This is a major oversight.

I would like to formally request a nun smiley. I do this because I think Warren needs to have his search for the "None of the Above" be provided with Sister Merry Smiley, the Nun of Our Lady Above, thus Nun of the Above, :nunabove:

Humbly,

Impeccable logic, godfry. Let's see what we can do.

So, would this nun be above something, or just floating above the clouds: Nun of The Above? This one, I could vote for.

Which is irrelevant since your smiley-sense has been shown to be completely out of whack. (like the rest of you.)

Why would we want a nun smilie? If we get a nun smilie, I think we should also get a naughty nun smilie.

You keep trying and maybe one of these days, I'll suffer some brain damage and join in on the smileyitis.

Hey, Warren...

If you don't care about smilies and you have no "smileysense" (whatever that may be) whatsoever, what are you doing here in the Smiliedome?

:holycow:

To answer your question, I'd just thought of it as a nun, of a particular order (The Immaculate Order of Our Lady Above) which needn't necessarily actually exist in the RW (since it's smilies, anyhoo). It could have been a smiley in a habit and I would have been happy. Or, a smiley in a habit with a stained glass window strategically placed in the background.

A hovering nun is a curious idea. Above what, though?

And MonCapitan?

Warren is an inveterate smiley scoffer. When he takes the time from his busy daily schedule and actually notices one of the smiley category polls, he generally posts "Still no 'none of the above'". Consequently, my recommendation was in a light-hearted play on words, a bad nun pun.

And... "Early to rise and early to bed, all's you really end up is dead."

Crumb
08-22-2005, 08:33 PM
Well I made a nun. It seems a little big to me, and it looks like a lego person. But it is a nun.

Ohhhh... You're moving up in the world. Es muy bueno. :yup:

You haven't lived on the emote edge, however, until you've snagged the trial version of Fireworks and done Zikes' tutorial. :homer:

Crumb

But I will not be able to afford Fireworks. So I doubt I will be bothering. I'll try to master GIMP.

Okay, well, maybe you could draw her face round in Paintbrush and paste it into GIMP?

What about the naughty nun I requested? We need a naughty nun. You simply can't have one without the other. It would be an incomplete set.

What is up with the white streak across her face?

Also, any of you artists know a FREE program for Mac? I already have Photoshop and Imageready (paid for!) on my PC, but I have nothing on my Mac except stupid iPhoto.

:holycow:I opened the thread only because of the title.

One question I have is, why are there so many smiley polls and threads in the other subfora?

Ensign, I haven't used it but GIMP is available for MacOS X, I've heard good things about it.

Hmm, I was under the impression is was free.
I haven't really looked into it, I have photoshop as well.
For as much as photoshop costs, they really should give a dual platform version.

GIMP is free for Windows.

That's the point. I already have Photoshop 7.0 and Image Ready on my PC. But I want something for the other computer. I want it ALL!

I found out I can actually get GIMP for free, but I need either a C compiler or some kind of program called "dss" or something? Or I can have someone else do all the work for me, but that will cost. grr!

Anyway, cute nun. Great jobs, Crumb and liv!

The nominations and smiley polls take place in another forum because that's where they started, their presence there antedating the Smiliedome forum. So, it's tradition, I guess. Plus, it gives those who don't normally cruise the Smiliedome (forced away by the hammering and heat of the forges) an opportunity to express our unvarnished opinions on what smilies already exist.

For all things related to smilie creation. Request custom smilies, post your own smilies, etc.

Smilie appreciation is not related to smilie creation. :ptht:

Or I can have someone else do all the work for me, but that will cost. grr! That's only if you need to compile gimp from scratch. Precompiled versions for Windows (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/) or Macintosh OSX (http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/) are available. Note that the macintosh version requires Apple's X11 app, but one did a complete install of OSX on their mac they have it.

Wait a minute. It says I can't install X11 because I already have newer software installed. WTF does that mean? :dunce:
