I don't understand!
It just shouldn't be this hard
to write a haiku!

livius drusus
09-05-2004, 08:45 PM
Oh no, not again...
Doesn't anybody care
for the crap poets?

Ronin
09-05-2004, 08:55 PM
That's what I'm saying
You try, try and try again
it just doesn't work

freemonkey
09-05-2004, 09:11 PM
You expect too much.
You already know Haiku
is about essence.

livius drusus
09-05-2004, 09:21 PM
Damn you, freemonkey,
always finding le mot juste.
I look even worse.

Ronin
09-05-2004, 09:30 PM
I know how it is
Oh, how we all truly know
but essence is what?

freemonkey
09-05-2004, 09:40 PM
A whisper, a touch
A way to know what can be
known no other way

Ronin
09-05-2004, 09:46 PM
I have closed my eyes
and dreamed of things unspoken
where is the haiku?

freemonkey
09-05-2004, 09:56 PM
Ah.... real life is more
complicated than three lines
can possibly be

Ronin
09-05-2004, 10:05 PM
Please don't tell me that!
I'm seeking a fine release
Five, seven and five!

Farren
09-05-2004, 10:08 PM
Haiku cake's simple
Ten eggs and seven cups flour
Add essence and bake

freemonkey
09-05-2004, 10:11 PM
lives limited to
just seventeen syllables:
peaceful or boring?

livius drusus
09-05-2004, 10:16 PM
Extra! Caught At Work:
Sous-chef gives new meaning to
Add essence and bake.

Ronin
09-05-2004, 10:17 PM
When lives are so lost
in the haze of blood anger
haiku is my peace

Farren
09-05-2004, 11:24 PM
In light of the war
Its good there are travellers
Packing a small peace

Ronin
09-05-2004, 11:43 PM
But I inhale breath
just as the dead exhale it
my peace is selfish

freemonkey
09-05-2004, 11:51 PM
All things have essence,
even pain and suffering.
Oooh! Time for dinner!

Farren
09-06-2004, 12:01 AM
Who has not passed on
For your inner peace and quiet
They do not stain it

Ronin
09-06-2004, 12:39 AM
I think far too much
for them and their last moment
my eyes, their last sight.

Petra
09-06-2004, 12:52 AM
I'm sure your girlfriend
loves you more than DoR
Ian Grey. Much more.

Peace is overrated
even in Haiku
with no end.

I fuck up syllables of-
ten.

On days like this, its
not word haiku you need, but
arm haiku ~ embrace

Stop the endless run
Find the road out of your head
Play an arcade game

Ronin

Torn, slipping between
a mindless oblivion
and paralysis.

I will take the arms
that I know provide solace
as I remember.

The dead that I see
are now but a memory
...until my next shift.

Each Haiku must contain a kigo, a season word, which indicates in which season the Haiku is set. For example, cherry blossoms indicate spring, snow indicates winter, and mosquitoes indicate summer, but the season word isn't always that obvious.

Posers. :P

Laughing out loud,
I googled that.

Laughing out loud,
it is spring in NZ.

Laughing out loud,
I climbed the levee.

Still laughing, I am no
haiku master. But I
laugh in spring, anyway.

Farren

I only found out
what a haiku is today
and... uhh... it's spring here

Petra
09-06-2004, 03:09 AM
Do not climb this levee.

The pain of loneliness gone;

As autumn neareth
I do contemplate you folks-
you are all nut jobs.

You folks write haiku,
without any understanding, geez...
why do crickets chirp?

Is there any understanding
for the cricket who does chirp?
or is he mindless?

Is he without thought
or does he know something real?
does the cricket know?

Go forth ye people,
understand the cricket's ways...
Yes, be the cricket.

Sometimes, all that is
needed is good humour to
wash away winter.

Sometimes, it is spring
and the haiku abusers
come to dance and play.

Irreverence can
be a creative virtue.
Break the rules; laugh loud.

Push the envelope.
Art is not static. We cree
ate a new spring Hai

Petra

Oh, and fuck the crick
ets. I love my friend; he comes
out to play. Yay!

Oh, and fuck the crick
ets. I love my friend; he comes
out to play. Yay!

Ugh, fucking crickets...
Why would you say such foul things?
It's gross in any season.

You have spurned wisdom
And turned summer to winter...
Do not fuck crickets.

Be the cricket, yes.
Fuck the cricket no, sicko.
Haiku is beautiful, no?

Forced to obey rules
in order to convey thoughts
and you can still rhyme.

Has ever there been
a more beautiful art form?
The cricket says no.

So...Um... Anyway,
Where did Calliope go?
She was pretty cool.

freemonkey
09-09-2004, 02:04 AM
With Persephone,
away to a deep, dark place
to discuss the rules

Petra
09-09-2004, 04:05 AM
Whoa, freemonkey
now you're freakin' me out
it's just a rumour

viscousmemories

Pounce, Calliope
Muse of epic poetry
Find a way back in

Petra
09-09-2004, 04:53 AM
She is with crickets
chirping, chirping, chirping. Ing.
I'm so crap at syl...

bugga! I keep running out of beats.

freemonkey

She's just visiting
underground; vacationing.
She always returns.

Kitten on my lap-
all morning she ricochetted
off walls. Sleeping now.

Why won't my shoe fit?
Have my feet grown overnight?
What's that in the toe?!

Phew..... a wee toy mouse,
just a gift from me to her.
She shares it with me.

Rufus bites fingers
each morning, come rain or shine.
Ornery cuteness.
