Heh. Sorry, my above post made me want to see what we had for calling, and I wanted to see how this would work if I put them next to each other.

That's cool. :pleased:
She is probably off making another amazing lite-brite (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3095&page=2&pp=25&highlight=lite&onlybyuserid=0) creation :P

I chatted with her a moment earlier this evening. :) I forgot to bring this up, though:(
EDIT: Ah, she's online now. Sending link..

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she's got a higher clearance than I do!

Are you still working in DOD fields now that you are out of the service, Shake? I didn't know that, if so! Whatcha doin' these days?

My company (http://www.rfcomm.harris.com/) is a government contractor, although nearly 50% of our business is international. I started out as a contract employee working as a manufacturing test technician. After about 9 months, I took a position as an engineering technician (a position more in line with my education and experience) and was hired on some months later. Because I started here so soon after leaving the military, it was relatively easy to get my clearance reinstated back to the same level I had when I was still on AD.
I'm planning on going back to school to see if I want to become an engineer (more than likely as a EE).
We just broke a half billion dollars in sales last FY, another record year (that's 5 in a row). So, business is going well, and we're hiring, which is rare in this area. Rochester is home to a company you may have heard of ... Eastman Kodak, and they've been on a steady decline for some time, but are still the area's largest employer.

Hey thanks for the concern guys. I'm real busy with work and school right now. I'm sure I have time to post in moderation, but forums are like crack to me. It really tends to be all or nothing. On the plus side, I'm learning object-oriented programming. As if I could get any geekier.

Haven't you figured it out yet? There is no moderation here, it's all or nothing.

It is. As I mentioned, record year after record year! Business is booming and we're exploring new areas to move into. Things are looking good!
If anyone knows an engineer looking for steady work, let me know. I'm willing to split referral payouts (they're pretty big if the person has a clearance).

I wish I could talk my brother into getting back into it. He decided he didn't like "working for" people, so he's running his own business unrelated to engineering. He's an EE with a PE lisence and has clearance. Former Navy. The only engineering work he's doing now is a bit of contracting on the side. I know he's gone to some Pentagon type facilities (but elsewhere in the country) to do work this last year. But it's just a side project. It's a shame we can't strong arm him and split the bonus.

I'm willing to split referral payouts (they're pretty big if the person has a clearance). That's a good idea for them to bump the referral payout based on clearance. I know some aerospace companies are paying unprecedented huge sign-on bonuses for individuals with active clearance. Northrop Grumman recently nailed a black project contract and they are giving $5K for Secret and $20K for active SSBI Top Secret. Who needs skills or degrees anymore?! These bonuses go to the person accepting the job, but I bet they have a hefty referral program too.
