I just got an email, "sent" from the same business email address it was mailed to, i.e. me@mydomainname in both the sent from & sent to.

Its got a couple links in it, one seems a little odd here's part of it: it.slashdot.org(no, I did NOT click them).

The email is about how Microsoft is preparing to send 10,000 jobs to China. And this text appears at the end of the email:

Public Service Announcement Brought to You by SPAMIS :
Strategic Partnership Against Microsoft Illegal Spam
----- ---- --- -- - -

[ SPAMIS NOTIFICATION ]:

Thanks to Individual and Server Contributions, SPAMIS is Now "FULLY READY"
to Begin Increasing Microsoft Public Service Announcement Emails to 20 Times
the Amount of Internet Email Users by 25 Times the Current Sending Rate &
Speed When a Certain Activity Transpires to "ANY" Past, Present or Future
SPAMIS Member(s) and/or "ANY" SPAMIS Affiliate(s).

[ CURRENTLY IN WAITING FOR THIS ACTIVITY TO TRANSPIRE TO BEGIN ]

Should I be worrying? Is someone really sending emails from my account?

It's most likely a spoofed e-mail address. So no they aren't sending e-mails from your account.

A bit ironic that a anti spamming group is spamming to complain about spam.
A wikipedia article about them suggests SPAMIS is just a group of spammers who are pissed off that microsoft took them to court.

SPAMIS is a lying sack of shit. I believe someone I know is about to get a massive default judgment on the guy for junk faxing, but I could have him confused with someone else.

I get emails from myself all the time. Usually when I go into a fugue state and the other 'voices' take over.

As Ari said, it is most likely just a spoofed e-mail. In other words, the header information is forged. This is a fairly common technique for spammers; it's one of the means they use to cover their tracks.

It's not even a "forged header". It's apallingly easy to send an email and have someone else listed as the sender. Apparently that's a 'feature'.

Thanks. I figured it wasn't something to get all frantic about. I like to check before I panic :panic: .

I've been getting emails "from" myself they're using tells me they harvested it from my domain name registration.

Even if I did need to refinance my mortgage or enhance my penis I wouldn't purchase such products from random people sending me email.
