View Full Version : Some smilie wishes

I have wished for these smilie concepts in recent posts and not found any. Could be a search keyword missing ... or we could need some new ones.

:strange:

:choked: as in all choked up (emotionally not by a :choke: )
And why not :choking: as in the act of smilie A throttling smiling B. I haven't actually recognised the need for such a smilie but I'm sure it's been there subconciously.

I'll do the choking, only I've got a few more for the board in the making but I can guarantee you that I'll do it if you like...

I'm also going to do a drinkingbird smiley... :D

Now: A question to boggle your mind...

How do you choke a smiley that hasn't got a neck?

Isn't he just dreamy, folks? :melts:

Makes you wonder why I'm still single, don't it?

Now: A question to boggle your mind...

How do you choke a smiley that hasn't got a neck?
Well, one smiley grabs the other at the bottom and squeezes. The victim deforms, the bottom squeezing into a cylinder while the top expands a bit, the eyes popping out. Then, the assaulting smiley shakes the victim, who's eyes shrink back down and become little X's. The assaulter then claps his hands together and bounces off, leaving the dead victim.

Or something like that. :D

Is there a battleship smilie? or some similar, heavily armed, combative smilie?

and how does someone get a smilie from one forum to another, as I've seen some people do? is it just copy/paste, or is there some URL?

livius drusus
10-21-2005, 08:18 PM
You need the URL to use between [img] tags. To get it, right click on the picture and click on "Copy image location" or click on "Properties" and copy the url in that window.

We don't have any battleships, but perhaps one of these will do.

livius drusus

I see. Well, I know of no battleships. Perhaps Google image search will be able to help you.

We need a "bury the hatchet" smiley. :bryhtcht:

Two smilies, each with hatchets, dig hole, throw hatchets in, fill in hole...maybe even shake hands, before walking away.

I have an immediate situation where I could use this.

and then we need the alternate version that starts identicaly, but then only one smiley throws a hatchet in and the other one attacks him and throws his mutilated corpse in the hole and buries it.

What browser are you using?

There are several ways to set up an animated .gif. The easiest way is to have each frame be the complete picture with progressive changes between frames. Another way is to have frames consisting of only the object being changed between frames which are then placed over a background. As the animation progresses, one frame is suppposed to be removed and replaced with the next as the background stays the same.

When using Irfanview to look at images, I've had the same problem you describe. It seems as if the program doesn't like the way the .gif was coded and leaves the additional frames instead of removing them, resulting in the duplicated parts.

Ensign Steve
10-25-2005, 03:47 AM
I am using Safari. I'm not having any problem with other animated gifs, or even most animated smilies. Just those two so far. *shrug* It's no biggie.

Well since I am a rather unprolific smiley maker I will put some of my ideas out here for any smiliesmiths paying attention.

One was the previously mentioned act of arson on the :ff: logo. I tried my hand at this originally but was unable to make anything of it. (OK, so it was laziness. Sue me.) My original vision was a smiley that poors gasoline on :ff: and then throws a lit match on it.

Another I had an idead for was a 'manly hug'. Two gentleman smilies that however uncomfortablely manage to express there (purely nonsexual) love for one another with a pat on the back hug followed quickly by paranoid furtive glances and maybe some coughing.

Maybe a more talented arteest wants to take a crack at one.

I was watching and commenting on the smiley championship polls and got sucked in by the Roman motif around here, thinking it'd be a great to have clickable thumbs up/thumbs down icons on our polls. Then, of course, that took my mind to the gladitorial competitions in ancient Rome....and I, of course, started looking for a gladiator smiley...

No go...

Is there one, trapped in arcane key words?

Or, is this forum lacking entirely in gladiator smilies? There should be at least the basic two: short sword with arm shield and trident and net.

What gives?

If we don't have then we need :glad8er1: and :glad8er2:

Okay... I'm gonna repeat this, 'cause I'm not sure it got through:

We need a little pooper scooper scooter guy.

Just like the horse manure scoopers in the parades. Little Cushman three-wheelers with a cab and bed. The operator has a biggish shovel, scoops up indeterminate brown pile from street surface.
