In his blog, Alton Brown said that looking in someone else's fridge is like performing a lifestyle MRI - almost as bad as looking into your host's medicine cabinet, but not quite.

So, post a pic of the contents of your chill chest here. I wanna see. And so does everyone else.

[edited to add: and please post a little blurb about what the contents are, if you're so inclined, so we don't have to squint and wonder if that's really a container of Hershey's Syrup.]

This picture is about a month and a half old. I posted it on this (http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=134895) thread at II. My new fridge, a tiny little cabinet-sized marvel of French engineering from the mid-1960s, is also empty, because I defrosted it last night. Before it was empty, it had yogurt (which I ate) and beer (which I drank). After being on for 3-4 weeks, it became hopelessly clogged with ice from the little freezer unit. Anyway, without further ado, my US fridge pic, dated August 25, 2005:

Farren started a thread on this subject here (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4009) a couple months ago. I'll post a picture of mine in this thread when the camera battery is done charging.

Right after I clean it.

This is my favorite segment on "Cribs"! :D

No cleaning, arranging, or editing here. That's not in the spirit of it, IMO. ;) (Although I was tempted at least to face the labels out so they could be read).

Per request, here's an explanation of just the things that can be seen in the picture, excluding the stuff in the door that didn't make the shot:

generic otter pops in a red mesh bag
salad dressing
ketchup
packets of salad dressing from Burker King
blue tupperware container with batteries in it
ice maker and tray
bag of cooked shrimp
french fries
three steaks
mixed vegetables
sunsweet prunes
carton of egg beaters
pickles
milk
a sport bottle containing very old coffee
baby carrots remaining in a veggie tray
"sparkling ice" sparkling water with juice in it
"fruit 2 O" fruit flavored water
apples and oranges
jello cups and fruit cups

Yay, FUN! (should we do the medicine chest thread next?)

Okay, on second thought it would probably defeat the purpose to clean it first, so here's how it really looks.

Top shelf: Organic non-fat milk, OJ with added calcium
Second shelf: Baking soda (for freshness), firm tofu, shredded cheese, tortilla shells, mushrooms, sour cream, parmesan reggiano
Third shelf: Garlic cloves en masse, neufechtal or something, feta
Fourth shelf: Genoa slices, eggs, American cheese
Drawers: Carrots and celery

I'm not going through the condiments.

The freezer is mostly individually wrapped salmon filets, chicken breasts, pork loin steaks, mock sausage patties, shredded potatoes, and mixed veggies.

You're just trying to make an excuse not to clean, I bet.

We are in the process of buying a new side by side fridge, so no fair! The light doesn't even work on ours. But I can tell you what is inside it. Shelf by shelf.

Crisper: All organic produce. Lettuce: 2 leafy kinds, spinach for salad, mesclun mix, cucumber, zucchinni, carrots, celery. Shelf above crisper is wall to wall and three deep of apples from our tree. We normally keep melons, papaya and other fruits here but with apple season we eat apples. Avocados and limes if they are getting too ripe in the hanging veg basket for my outrageously delicious guacamole.

Next shelf up: A bin of seeds for the garden stuffed to overflowing with packets of seeds. Tillamook medium cheddar cheese, corn tortillas, eggs, chicken sausage, salsa, sour cream, cream cheese, loaf of oat nut bread. Next shelf up ummm a stock of film for my cameras.

Top shelf: Soy milk, whole milk, bottled water I bottle up from my filtered water pitcher, dill pickles, sweet pickles.

Top sdoor shelf: mayo, homemade ketsup, dijon mustard, seeds for the sprouter, fish sauce.

Bottom door shelf: Bottle of red wine, various dressings, sauces. Seed packets for the garden.

Can't wait to get new fridge and turn old fridge into apple storage, homemade beer, homemade soda, film, seed storage. New fridge strictly food. HAH!

Freezer: Breads, rolls, frozen paint brushes and rollers with paint on them, frozen peas and corn. We have a bigger freezer so most of our stuff is in there. I freeze fruits from the garden, baggies of blueberries, apple sauce etc.

Forgot to mention a couple of unknown science projects that I found tonight.

Since when do I need an excuse not to clean?
