I was jaw-dropped the whole time, basically.

The prison scene: fucked up. Nate confronting brother-in-law: FUCKED up. Claire blowing off hot orgasmo guy in favor of Billy: just plain fucked up.
What an incredible show it is. Now how long are we going to have wait for the next season? Knowing HBO, it could be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

My take:

Nate & David got resolution/closing to the things that were haunting them and keeping them "stuck". Claire, well a) she's young & naive, and b) she was on drugs. That said, I really like the way she has been presented with the "real world" of art, especially as that's something I've been struggling with lately.

Oh! And George's sloooooow unraveling.

Yes, totally. I was so relieved to see Nate fall into Brenda's arms when he got home. His assholery had been driving me nuts. David was almost bemused, I think, by the sheer nuttiness of his attacker's attempts to manipulate him.

Claire, well a) she's young & naive, and b) she was on drugs. That said, I really like the way she has been presented with the "real world" of art, especially as that's something I've been struggling with lately.

I like it too. I like how vibrant and curious she is, even as she stumbles in and out of her mistakes. I even like how annoying and pretentious and compromised she can be, much like the "real world of art".

Oh! And George's sloooooow unraveling.

Oh. My. God. That was just incredible to behold.

Well, I'd like to thank y'all for using the spoiler tags. I'm only on the 2nd season (thank all the gods that never were for DVDs) and I'd been trying to avoid this thread because of it. (I hit it by accident while trying to catch up.)

Yep. Hooray for the spoiler tags. I had HBO through the second season, but I am stupid, so I thought I'd only seen the first, so when the second season DVDs came out, I thought it was the new stuff, but I rewatched them anyway, but I'm still way behind. On the bright side, now the ODB is waiting for them, too. (I'd forgotten how much boy-on-boy action there was in that show until I made him watch it.) This just now was the fourth season, wasn't it? Cripes.

I am NOT going to read the spoilers.

No.

No, I'm not.

So, um, did Maturin dig the boy-on-boy action, or just reap the rewards of your own enjoyment?
