Inspired, of course, but this thread (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=491)

I like poo. Poo is such a nice little word. Its polite enough not to register high on the "now look what you did to gra'ma" scale but scatalogical enough to appeal to the child in me.

I like creative uses of the word poo, like "that dog sticks to me like flies on poo" and "hi, poobreath". I dunno it just appeals to me.

Fucktard is another smashing word. I leaned it on HH. Fucktard. Hmmm. "You are all just poomunching fucktards". I like that.

Glomp. Its not dirty but its such a nice word.

Foibles, kinks and peccadilloes. I like the words and what they imply.

Did I mention poo, I like it. I really do. Perhaps its just because I'm a potty mouth (I like that phrase too)

I think ticketyboo is a nice word. Great phonics, and fun in your mouth. Best said with a Kiwi accent. :yup:

Rhesus Monkey - Okay, so it's two words, but it's one of my favourite phrases.
And Cock. I like the word cock. It's the perfect shape and sound for its subject, and it fits in the mouth nicely.

Okay, I have to tell you the story.

This is the story of the woman who gave me a straight line better than sex.

So, there was this girl, and almost everyone had a crush on her. And almost everyone hit on her. Me too. I was friendly and funny about it, and I knew I wouldn't get anywhere. And she would always say "Fuck off, Peter." (But not in a sincere way; we were both playing.)

So, one day, the Usenet feed was down, so everyone was cluttering the college-local newsgroups. And she said something, and I made a trashy pickup line response.

And then this.

You know my two favorite words, Peter.
(referring to "fuck off")

Why yes, yes I do. "Archipelago" and "fellatrice."

Exactly right. And how did you know? Could it be because *you* introduced me to these words?

Well, I can't speak for "archipelago."

I still love that girl. I mean, we're never gonna have a "relationship" or whatever, but we still keep in touch, and talk about our lives, and give each other advice.

But she gave me the best straight line ever, and she knew exactly what she was doing. It was wonderful.

My new favorite word is "inamorata", because I have a need for it, and the other words I know weren't quite matching the circumstance.

I love serendipity...and superfluous.

And I love the word, love,

It's beautiful, like illuminous and atmosphere. Sulphur and breathe.

Hinemoa bathed in it, Tutanekai swam...

love was strong; strong was love...

I missed this the first time, thanks to Goliath for quoting it.

Beautifully phrased.

Jesse opines that there is a clear organization of penis-words, from tiny ("weewee") to medium-big ("cock") to a little too big for comfort ("prong").

Most words that I like suggest exuberance (also a good word).

Two words I call people: pumpkin and monkey. Hello, pumpkins!

ethereal--altho I always think of it as "e-reathral" for some reason known only to the gnome (another fave) that figures out pronounciation for me

Baptastic--RA and I find lots of uses for this word here in Georgia

Most of my favorites are words that aren't truly words--frumptious, babykins, any word with -kins added on the end, etc.

My two favourite words are "shit" and "fuck" - I've been cutting these out of my daily vocabulary lately and using them instead to punctuate sentences which I think deserve punctuation (sorry for the redundancy). I find that using such words sparingly gives them more oomph when they're actually used :).

hmmm. Splendid is such a nice word on its own, I don't know if I could improve it.

I've been thinking about this thread, and to the words that suggest exuberance, I have to add that I like words that suggest treks. Such as:

wander
wilderness
pilgrim
peregrine
voyage
sojourn

Any word that has at least 4 syllables, cause the jerks at work have no idea what I'm saying....the jerks.

Meretricious persiflage. I know, that's two words, but together they get high placement in the annals of pretentious writing (courtesy of D.H. Lawrence's Women in Love) and I think they almost dance.

Pet word: fuzzwad. n.; any small, usually cute, furry and friendly animal. Cats, puppies, pet rats, guinea pigs and bunnies. I suppose this could make that species jump to human application, but has not yet, so far as I know.

My cat is a fuzzwad.

 For some inexplicable reason, I call my creature "my sweet baboon"... :blush2:

He doesn't even look like a baboon, either. More like an old man with prominent jowls and a grudge to bear. :dunno2:

BTW, liv, I *lurve* peripatetic! My good friend and amazingly fantabulous splendacious ;) poet John Gardiner is known in many circles as "The Peripatetic Poet", and it fits perfectly. No other word would suffice.

I used to have a coworker (now in state prison for murder) whose favorite words were:
cumdrinkers
sodomized
shithole
shitheap
fartsack
hag

I'll use all of these in something that I actually heard him say once:
I'm tired of being sodomized by these corporate cumdrinkers, I think I'm going to jump in my shitheap, go to the shithole and jump in the fartsack with the old hag.

Translation:
It's the end of my shift, I think I'll jump in my truck and go to my house and crawl into bed with my wife.

My favorite words are Portuguese and my favorite Portuguese word is

saudade - It's pronounced like sah-oo-dah-deh. Sometimes considered hard to translate, but can mean a yearning for absent people, places, things or times. It is almost a physical state of being, and not just a sentiment. It is also called bittersweet memories, happy sadness or sometimes even the blues, though that term, I don't think, conveys the wistful part of the feeling. The classic bossa nova song Chega de Saudade (http://www.caetanoveloso.com.br/sec_busca_obra.php?language=pt_BR&id=355&sec_discogra_todas=1) suggests an aspect of this sensation.

Chega de Saudade
(music: Antonio Carlos Jobim / lyrics: Moraes De Vinicius)

Vai minha tristeza
E diz a ela que
sem ela não pode ser
Diz-lhe numa prece
Que ela regrese
Porque eu não posso mais sofrer
Chega de saudade
A realidade é que sem ela
Não há paz não há beleza
É só tristeza e a melancolia
Que não sai de mim
Não sai de mim
Não sai
Mas se ela volta
Se ela volta
Que coisa linda
Que coisa louca
Pois há menos peixinhos
a nadar no mar
Do que os beijinhos
Que eu darei na sua boca
Dentro dos meus braços os abraços
Hão de ser milhões de abraços
Apertado assim, colado assim, calado assim,
Abraços e beijinhos e carinhos
sem ter fim
Que é pra acabar com esse negócio
De viver longe de mim
Não quero mais esse negócio
De você viver assim
Vamos deixar desse negócio
De você viver sem mim

Go, my sadness
And tell her that
without her it is not to be
Tell her, in a prayer
to return to me
for I can't bear this suffering anymore
No more blues
The reality is that without her
There is no peace, there is no beauty
There is only sadness and melancholy
that won't leave me
won't leave me
won't leave
But if she returns
If she returns
What a beautiful thing
What a crazy thing
For there are fewer fish
swimming in the sea
than the kisses
that I will give on your mouth
in my arms my embraces
There will have to be millions of embraces
tight like this, stuck like this, quiet like this
Embraces and kisses and caresses
without end
It is to end with that business
of living far from me
I don't want that business any more
of you living like this
We are going to quit this business
of you living without me

Damn straight.

I'll have to look that up to see how it's pronounced. And what it means. Do you use it in regular conversations?

It has the same look as ophthalmic. There should be some kind of penalty for that many consonants strung together. Loss of possession, or yardage?
