Their pull-cord salad spinner. Their swing-arm garlic press. Their little choppy-chop spring-action chopper thing. And now... well, I already loved their rotary cheese grater for pecorino, but this morning I fell in love with it all over again when I discovered that it is AMAZING for shredding fresh ginger! I was working on the marinade for dinner tonight and making a total mess (basically, ginger juice) using my little zester. Then I remembered my little Zyliss cheese grater... could it work? YES, it did a fabulous job and now I'm itching to try it on other things... maybe chocolate, for on top of a pretty dessert? :chin:

Any other Zyliss cultists on the board? Ever gotten a crap Zyliss product (assuming that such a thing exists)?

A long time ago in a galaxy far away... ok, not really, more like about seven years ago in my previous incarnation as a commercial insurance account manager ;) - Zyliss was one of my clients. Their products are truly awesome (they would send random stuff from time to time).

The only item I owned personally was the cheese grater and it did indeed rock. :yup:

Cook's Illustrated loves their spinner too, but I wouldn't trade my Oxo spinner for all the pull-cords in China. I'm not happy with the Oxo garlic press, though, so I might have to give that swing-arm a try.

When it comes to chopping and mincing, I wouldn't trade my zyliss chopper (http://zylissonline.com/spice/181537/) for anything.

For shredding cheese, ginger etc. I use the Microplane grater, about which much has already been said (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138).

I have the same thing, only in Generic instead of Zyliss. I also have a generic salad spinner that I love very much.

Maybe I'm just too trailer for y'all.

Maybe I'm just too trailer for y'all. Now, now, we'll have no snobbery here! I don't care if something is generic or not --- my only concern is that it works well and is built to last. Few things enrage me more than when a kitchen gadget ups and dies in the middle of food prep. :fuming:

Oh, who am I kidding, everything enrages me. I have issues.

vm, that is the choppy-chop thing I meant. :P I have read the praises of the Microplane. I'm thinking about buying one of their foot files... ew gross, sorry for mentioning that here.

Oops, I missed your reference to it. I like "choppy-chop spring-action chopper thingy" better than "zyliss chopper".

Cook's Illustrated loves their spinner too, but I wouldn't trade my Oxo spinner for all the pull-cords in China.yay, another cook's illustrated fan!

i like oxo's spinner better; i don't feel like i'm yanking a lawnmower pullcord when i'm using it. the cord also gets all messed up (at least when i'm using it) - however, i did read that Zyliss remade the spinner with a better cord feed to reduce the number of problems one may have with it.
