Thanks all for the birthday wishes. My birthday is always a time for reflection for me, and this year is certainly an event filled one, both good and bad. As I sit here and type, Elaina is on my lap and I can't help but feel that this year definitely had it's fair share of good tidings.

I haven't found employment yet, and I've been set back by some automobile problems, but I'm hopeful it will come without too much more time. I've certainly been busy trying to get the family situation adjusted, not to mention getting all the proper records together as my son was out of my custody for so long. As I do this I have other things to keep in mind as well. It seems my ex wife has fallen onto some legal troubles involving fraud and drug use, so I'm trying to plan for my other daughter to come live with us as well. I'm operating under the assumption that my ex may see jail time, as this is a distinct possibility, and one I must plan for.

So yes I've been busy, and it's definitely a struggle, but a struggle that's well worth it. My girlfriend, Jennifer is a source of true strength for me, and I love her all the more as she accepts my children from a previous marriage in her life, not to mention our new little one. :yup:

There's light at the end of the tunnel. Jen should be able to work in a month or so, and I should be back to work by that time too. I've also been busy getting everything together for whatever public assistance the state can provide me. I hate using it, but I do what I have to do. Fortunately, I saved a coupon that gave me a month's free rent from when I moved into this place, and it certainly came in useful this month! I've also got to save up for a new place. This one bedroom is just too small for all of us. I have a hide away bed for my son, but I need to get our butts into a 3 bedroom if things are going to materialize how I envision them. My lease is up in April, so I can make it here until then.

We'll just hang on in the meantime. We all have everything we need for now, and things are really tight, but we're a loving family and we'll make it together.

The odd thing is, I've never been so screwed, and yet so happy at the same time! Go figure.
