Hello, I'm Faith, I live just outside London and I'm a midwife. I'm very much into cars and an F1 fanatic. And obviously I have a passion for midwifery.

Ok, now your questions:

1. How'd you find the Freethought Forum? surfing around

2. Are you a member of any other online forums? Which? Yes, Midwifery and Nursing ones, Sony ClubVAIO, Chuckalicious, Sport Cars, The Forum Whatever and a number of friends forums.

3. How do you feel about smilies (emoticons)? they’re cool

4. How do you feel about 2000+ smilies? the more the better

5. Is flaming:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck most of the time irritating, however sometimes funny

6. Is vulgar language:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck I’m not apposed to the odd word

7. Why did the chicken cross the road? I have absolutely no idea, probably to get to the other side

8. Who pays for your food? Who ever I can blag off

9. What's one thing you've always wanted to do but never have? Ooohhh, I'll have to give that one some thought

10. What is your single favorite place in the world? Edinburgh

11. What's the significance of your username? Very unoriginal I’m afraid, but my parents liked it

12. What about your avatar? I’m a midwife – nuff said

Midwifery has a fascinating history. I've been elated to see the recent resurgence of the profession. :baby:

Welcome to FF, Faith. :welcome1:

It does indeed have a very colourful history, but unfortunately, in the UK we are nearly at crisis point with a national shortage of people entering the profession. And there is an ever increasing age of the workforce, which means that in the next 5-10 years we are heading for a good 50% retiring leaving the profession at near breaking point.

Hahaha, sorry, told you I was passionate lol Don’t get me started :D

And thank you for the welcome :)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in the UK midwifery is a more integrated into the medical system than it is in the US. Hence the ominousness of the professional shortage, whereas in the United States any midwife shortage would be more of a matter of non-hospital, private, supply and demand negotiations.

Oh but I will. :muahaha: I find the subject fascinating.

Seems to me that Faith should start a new thread on midwifery.

She's a midwife, Crumb. I think they have all their ick functions surgically removed upon certification. :giggle:

My ick function was defective at birth. Maybe I should find a new avatar. :chin:
