In europe, for me, it's London, Paris and Rome.

In the U.S., it was New Orleans and San Francisco, now just San Francisco.

In south america, Rio de Janeiro.

I still haven't made it to most of the cities I intend to visit, but of those I have the ones I'm most interested in returning to are Berlin, Venice, Rome and Bangkok. Athens I hope to go back to, but only because the main museum was closed when I was there. The Parthenon and surrounds are nice, but the rest of the city was nothing special. I have a strange affection for Delhi, although I wouldn't go so far as to call it a favourite.

Roma Caput Mundi first and foremost, of course. I have a soft spot for Vienna and Istanbul too.

After them, I'm partial to smaller, pretty places like San Gimignano (http://www.sangimignano.com/sghomei.htm) and Lahaina (http://gohawaii.about.com/cs/photogalleries/a/lahaina_photos.htm).

I've been there!

Saw the Torture Museum. That was fun in a cringe-y sort of way. You don't wanna know what they used to do with two-man saws.

Oh right, the OP. I dunno. I haven't been to enough places to know, nor been to many of them for long enough.

I've only really been to Rome (1 week) and Chicago (3 weeks) long enough to get a good feel for the city. Well, I used to live in Cleveland, but to be honest, I don't really remember much about the city center - I only remember the suburban area where I lived. London, New York, DC, Stockholm, Florence, Venice, I have only been to for a couple days each.

But I'll be spending a week in Stockholm next month, so I should have more to say about it then.

And just because I wanna show off my photos, here's a picture of part of Stockholm:

Among the places I could go to over and over again and never really get tired of: Paris (duh), New York and Sofia (Bulgaria) top my list. Berlin also rocks hardcore.

The smaller places that are wonderful to visit on a regular basis but where there's only a few days of stuff worth doing would include Veliko Tūrnovo (Bulgaria), Torun (Poland), and Asheville, NC.

St Petersburg: ja.
Лучше сказать 'да' (da) - 'ja' (или 'я' по-русски ) значит 'I'

Aw, shucks, Warren, you done been to Salt Lake City. That's not something just everybody admits openly and outright.

The topic was favorite cities. I don't like cities very much. I must like Tulsa more than any other because I've been there more than any other city in the last five years or so.

Red Hook, NY. What a charming little town.

Martha's Vineyard. Specifically, Edgartown. Another charming little town.

I have a thing for charming little towns. :yup:

Try St. Andrews, New Brunswick; Lunenberg, Nova Scotia; and Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario. I thought them all charming little towns. Woodstock, Vermont, was very nice, too.

I was talking to RA about this a while back--I really haven't been to ANY large cities for a visit. Which is a little sad.

I think my favorite city of the ones I've been to is Washington, DC. I think Birmingham, Chattanooga and Asheville are about equal. (I don't know why I love Birmingham, but I do.) Then Charleston.

I like Atlanta, but only inside the perimeter. The metro area should be demolished, preferably by very selective meteor strikes.

The 3 cities in the US that I would like to visit most:
NYC
San Francisco
Baltimore

Aw, shucks, Warren, you done been to Salt Lake City. That's not something just everybody admits openly and outright. Not only have I admitted to being there, I've admitted to living there. I wear it like a badge of courage or something like that. "You think you've got it bad? I used to live in Salt Lake City, Utah." Take that, world.
