Not that I have any idea what any of that means.... but CONGRATULATIONS!! :cheer:

Thanks everyone. :) This paper was one of the foundational chapters of my dissertation, and my other two papers that have been accepted for publication are the chapters that follow it.
And it looks as though I'll probably have a fourth publication pretty soon, too (just an interesting lil paper that I submitted to the International Journal of Commutative Rings).

Woo HOOOO!! Congratulations!
I am not even mad that you forgot to put a "Not Safe for Lisa" warning against all that math!
Here is a picture of Michael Jackson, just for you:*

* I'm not really very good at this smileys thing, but I mean well.

Ummm...sure. Just give me about 9-10 years of catch-up time for not having taken a single biology class since high school.... :P

:muahaha: One quotient field to rule them all!
I am not even mad that you forgot to put a "Not Safe for Lisa" warning against all that math!
Oh bah! Factorization theory is safe for everyone! :D :innocent:
And thanks to everyone else, too. After I woke up today, I looked over the letter again, just to make sure I didn't misread it...LOL..wouldn't that have sucked!

Them be an awful lot o' big words, Goliath. I'm naught but a humble atheist. But congrats to ya. It's great to be recognised amongst your peers.

Haha! I'm always worried something similar will happen to me.
OK. That's enough congratulations and praise.
:pitch: I thought I understood the words used in mathematics - which, after all, doesn't invent long new words like chemistry or medicine, but reuses familiar short words to mean new unfamiliar things. (Group, field, ring, etc.) But I'm lost even in the abstract. What is a quesetion? :innocent:

Ouch! People should put (Warning: PDF!) next to PDF links. Every browser I've used locks up for a while with PDF docs and it drives me NUTS.
Anyway, huge congratulations, Goliath!

It's even worse when you have the whole Acrobat installed, 'cause as slow as the damn reader is to load the main program is even slower. :madrant:

Sure. At the rate I'm writing, it may be that long before I get them submitted anyway! :)

You guys are such wimps. I can't believe you're admitting your computers are underpowered. Your computer is an extension of your penis, right?

I tried to understand the paper, but I am afraid my brain began to leak out my ears so I had to give it up. :D

Nah, it only seems that way...keep plugging away, and before you know it, you'll have all the important stuff done...you'll just have to worry about the nagging bitch of a disquisitions editor who practically wants to put a comma after every other word and who wants Euclid's initials.....
Er...I guess that last part was just what I went through. :P

Well, a year or two of calculus, a semester on set theory and logic, and a year of Abstract Algebra will fix that right up! :yup: :D

I was looking forwards this summer to having a paper out with my name on it, but it looks as though it might not come to be. I'm working on it though....
And hopefully by the end of this year, I might actually understand the paper you wrote ;)

I dunno... I've had all of that and a bit more (my early math education was a bit unusual; I studied groups, rings and fields before I learned high school algebra concepts like the quadratic formula), and I understood maybe 20% of that paper. Unless you mean only that his brains won't leak, not that he'll understand the paper.

After reading the comments in this thread, I found myself too skeered to open the file.
But huge congrats on the publishing! That is uber-cool, and you slide-rule, baby! :D
and who wants Euclid's initials.....
Ooh, I know, I know - "E".

Unqualified to comment on substance; I'll leave that to your peers -- but those peers must have liked it!
Congratulations, Goliath! Way to go!
