I get to have not one, but two, count 'em TWO (2) root canals tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm going to tense up the whole time I'm in the chair, and have pain from the top of my head to my hips from now til after the New Year, but what the hey.

AND. Not only do I have to go through this hell in a physical way. I could have bought either 2 cheap or 1 really nice laptop with the money I'll be spending on my mouth. Instead, I'll probably be helping to send the dentist to Hawaii for the holidays. yay. :sadcheer:

Hug me. NOW.

Time to start brushing and flossing regularly.

naw I'm kidding, I'm sure you religiously take care of your teeth. Root canals must suck, I'm glad I've never had as much one cavity in my life.

Thanks, guys. :sniffles:

cappuccino, I'm probably about average how I care(d) for my teeth. They didn't start getting bad until a couple years ago. Middle age and all that.

I hope it goes well and the recovery is quick. I've never had a root canal [yet!] but I did have an infection in my jaw bone that scored me a bone transplant from a dead person. It wasn't all nervy like a root canal must be, so I don't think it compares at all. :( I hope you get lots of help for the pain.

I can't read anymore than what I quoted. You have my deepest sympathies and biggest, squishiest hugs. Now if you don't mind, I have to curl into a ball, suck my thumb, and hide under the bed.

Ow, ow, ow, ow. One is bad enough but two, YIKES! You are going to be in that chair a long time. But no more achy teethy, and some beautiful crowns to boot!

I've only had one root canal and it wasn't too bad really. Unfortunately the guy didn't do it right, so a few months later another guy had to drill through the crown and redo it. Honestly that wasn't too bad either. The pain that made the procedure necessary was worse. :)

Argh. The pain you'll have to go through to prevent this... :missing:

Add me to the list of sympathetic people, freemonkey.

Heehee, I almost got out of it, by nearly giving myself a concussion! I was cleaning house. Bending over to get something out of the broom closet, my glasses slipped down my nose, everthing went fuzzy and I cracked my forehead, hard, on the wall. Yowza!

If my husband could survive his, I can survive mine. :smugnod: I'm told the shot to numb is the worst part. We'll see. The dentist's office has a DVD player, so I can watch a movie during the procedure... I'm bringing Amelie.

I did have an infection in my jaw bone that scored me a bone transplant from a dead person.
That sounds like a pretty big deal, pesci. Did an oral surgeon do that in his/her office, or was that a hospital deal?

OK, so it wasn't anything at all like torture. In fact, it wasn't bad at all, just the beginning, with the shots and a little bit with the poking....

and if you think about what they're actually doing in there, with the drilling and digging and poking and scooping....

I might be a little swollen, and it beginning to hurt now that the novacaine is wearing off, but I have Vicodin (eh, I just looked and its hydrocodone) and that's OK. And we ended up only doing one tooth for now, which is making my bank account less weepy. Plus, this is a good excuse to take some time off and relax a little.

Thanks for the hugs. Now, who wants to rub my shoulders?

What did they do to your shoulders anyway?
Its not what they did to my shoulders, its all the scrunching and tensing I did in anticipation dread. :sweaty:

But thanks for the rub, Joe :aww:
