/me puffs up with pride and shares them with y'all, whether you want me to or not.
They are being dispatched to my Aunt and Uncle in Bavaria, and to her Godmother in Lugano, as gifts.
This first one is painted onto hard particle board, with real gold leaf and everything.

This second one has a front and a back - the back being black lacquer and gold leaf. She made a boo-boo on the front of this one by closing it up while the silver paint was still wet on the sides, and then tried to fix it, but it smudged. I still think it's totally cool, though.

And here's a Cross with a heart inside, that she made from some black wire.

Nice work Zoe.
I like the way your icons manage to look old-fashioned and modern at the same time.
Awwww... what a sweetheart she is. Zoe, you did a great job on your art projects, thanks for sharing them with us :)

Those are great! I think the silver smudge totally looks intentional, like a nimbus. Did she look at any historical icons in preparation for making her own?
, Zoe!

Very nice. I like the second folding thing.
:boythink:
I want some sort of screen to go on the counter between the kitchen sink and the living room. Looking at the folding screens(?) Zoe made, it occurs to me that making one would be better than buying it. It could be made of various tombstone shapes with images of dancing skeletons.

Those icons are beautiful. :)
The wire cross is too, but I'm particularly impressed with the icons. You would never know the silver paint was an accident either.

Those are really cool, Zoe. I like the icons, especially the folding one. And I love the painting on the other one, the halo is cool and I like the use of gold leaf.

You could totally make one! If you have any Goodwill, St. Vincent DePaul or other thrift stores nearby, you could find doors and shutters for cheap. I found bifold closet door, brand new, for $3. I hinged 3 sets together, painted them white used them to make a wall for my office/studio. And if you're handy with a saw, you could cut them into shapes. Or just paint the them. Ooooh, fun!

The first one totally reminds me of a Modigliani (http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/modigliani/modigliani.leopold-zborowski.jpg). :yup:

Thanks, guys!
I love them, too! I really don't want to part with them, but they are for those who pay for the lovely private education she is getting, not for me.
She's not an academic kid - more into art, sports, and music - so I'll do my best to help her with her strengths, while my family berate me for her weaknesses. :( We can't all be rocket scientists!
She's HUGE into fashion and loves to create it, so after Christmas I'm buying her a secondhand sewing machine and Ruve has kindly said she would teach Zoe a bit about sewing and pattern-making.

I just checked those links - and I really did upload them too big, didn't I?
Later this evening, I will correct that. :yup:

Given how shapely and beautiful she is becoming, I sincerely hope so. :P
I just checked those links - and I really did upload them too big, didn't I?But the top left (I didn't get the whole thing) of the one with the gold foil looks amazing at that size - detail and contrast you don't get in the shrunk version.

You know what ... who cares what she's good at and what she isn't. Does she love utilizing her strengths? If so, excellent! My parents always told me, it didn't matter what I did, as long as I tried my hardest and was happy with the days outcome.
And further ... arts, sports and music are activities which enrich the mind and strengthen the soul. Artists, athletes and musicians are some of the most dedicated individuals you'll (I've) ever come across. IMO those activities help children focus, prioritize and excel. If she's strong of imagination and strong of mind, she could be a rocket scientist if she wanted. No doubt about it, but then again ... not everyone wants to be a rocket scientist either.
With a supportive mother, no doubt she'll excel at whatever she does, and she'll enjoy it too, which is probably the best upbringing a parent could ever bestow upon their child. :)
