May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future! {Irish saying}

Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast. {Shakespeare}

Here's wishing all of you have a good holiday. A toast to heathens and infidels all around.

Merry. Merry.

One kind word can warm three winter months.
--Japanese proverb

O Winter! ruler of the inverted year, . . . I crown thee king of intimate delights, Fireside enjoyments, home-born happiness, And all the comforts that the lowly roof Of undisturb'd Retirement, and the hours Of long uninterrupted evening, know.
--William Cowper

Firelight will not let you read fine stories but it's warm and you won't see the dust on the floor.
--Irish Proverb

Let me have wisdom. Beauty, wisdom and passion.
Bread to the soul, rain where the summers parch.
Give me but these, and though darkness close
Even the night will blossom as the rose.
--On Growing Old, John Masefield

So I will only throw dinner parties at night and give up dusting by candle light.

Happy whatevamas to you Aspen. Clink!

Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in your own."

Merry Christmas AM! Have a wonderful & warm time!

Here, of course, your winter quotes don't ring quite as loudly. We've had a sunny morning (champagne on the patio) and will eat lunch outside (at about 5pm probably :D), but the wind is picking up and there are beautiful fluffy clouds. It may rain later - but our patio is covered.

The 25th was a warm day in Colorado-- 65 degrees, sunny and no snow except for the high country. Thanks everyone for your well wishes! Most of the last few days were good-- I got to spend time with my little brother in town for a few days and had my children at least part of the time. The down moments (yeah we all have them this time of year) passed quickly with a little help from my friends. ;) I received many great gifts including, always to my surprise, generous gifts from my ex-in-laws, and a gorgeous silk scarf from China that my brother brought home from a recent trip. On to making my New Year's resolutions.... eh, may be a bit trite... but I still do it every year.

Just this morning on NPR I heard that Colorado ski resorts are reporting the most snow they've had in 20 years, 120-130% of normal. That often comes in years where the temperatures aren't as low, the result of a Pacific upper air flow rather than a dry Artic flow. Same for Utah, they're at or above normal snowpack for this time of year too. Enjoy!
