1. How'd you find the Freethought Forum?

I found the Freethought Forum after browsing for freethought sites on Google.

2. Are you a member of any other online forums? Which?

Forumopolis, booktalk.org (as ThreeLawsSafe).

3. How do you feel about smilies (emoticons)?

4. How do you feel about 2000+ smilies?

5. Is flaming:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

I think it's generally irritating.

6. Is vulgar language:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

I think it's generally irratating, though there are appropriate times to use it.

7. Why did the chicken cross the road?

The chicken crossed the road because he had read Peter Singer, and he thought it was his right and his preference.

8. Who pays for your food?

I pay for my food.

9. What's one thing you've always wanted to do but never have?

I would like to have lunch with Martin Gardner.

10. What is your single favorite place in the world?

My favorite place is at home in my family room with my wife and my son, reading a book.

11. What's the significance of your username?

Noesis is "thinking" in Attic Greek. Aristotle's notion of the divine is "Thought thinking thought," which I find curious, though ultimately questionable.

12. What about your avatar?

No avatar yet.

Hello to everyone on this board. I'm glad that fellow freethinkers have a place to talk to one another.

Uh-oh, although you'll find a lot of people here who fit the traditional description of a 'freethinker', good luck finding two people here who agree on the definition of the word. :) Meanwhile I encourage you to read the Freethought Forum Introduction (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/ffintro.php?do=ffintro) and the Freethought Forum History (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/ffintro.php?do=ffhistory) for a quick overview of what we were thinking when we founded and named this place.

:welcome:, Noesis.

I hope you don't find yourself  all the time. If so, there is an option in your user cp (User Tools - Edit Options) to disable viewing of all smilies, so you see plain text instead of the graphic.

Welcome to FF, Noesis. :welcome1:

Welcome, Noesis!

I hope you don't find yourself  all the time.
How is that any different from using :glare: all the time? :P

Free thought could be defined as heated arguments over the definition of free thought. Including with yourself.

Welcome Noesis!

Yo, Noesis. Pull up a chair, make yourself comfortable. :comfy:

And, Miisa? I love your avatar. Especially how the penguin came half way 'round the world to be a pest to the snoozing polar bear.

Actually, my theory is that the polar bear is the one who got a little lost on his way home from the pub one night.

Besides, who are we to question the determination of deranged penguins...

Indeed. There is no question.
