Sorry! The administrator has specified that users can only post one message every 30 seconds.
Dear administrators,
Is this necessary? Could the limit be more like 10 seconds? I suppose it's to stop rabid post-bombers trying to bring the board down, but it often stops me :innocent2:. I suppose I'm different :qsigh:. I open multiple windows and read/reply to one while waiting  for others to load. I often (as in most days) end up replying on several threads in parallel windows, getting the preview on all, then ready to post them together. In the spirit of free thought, I don't want to suffer from being different (if in fact I am).
I've seen there is a separate feature that stops you accidentally posting the exact same post twice, so that would still apply.

We thought 30 seconds was quite circumspect, really, but I can't say I live in fear of flooders so what the hell. Ten seconds it is.
And it's done, sir. Give it a whirl.
Whirling.

I am oone of the people who gets smote regularly by any post delay longer than 10 seconds or so. 10 seconds, I can at least cope with.

Well, sheeit, I had no idea it was an issue for anyone. Glad to have removed an annoyance for you gentlemen.
What's cool is that you make the changes we request (except the rolling-eyes smilie. Still need that...). Thanks!

I get the 30 sec message as well. I use multiple windows as well.
like joep.
nice to know that I wont have to worry about it anymore.
now nothing will get in the way of my postslutting.

I am still seeing the 30 second rule. I move for 5 seconds. Actually if spamming the board isn't a concern I would like to see no restriction.
The issue I run into is that I go to show threads -> new posts and nothing happens (sometimes) so I click it again. This gets me into the 30 second rule loop.
What starts it off is some slowness somewhere either with the hosting server or my ISP or something inbetween.

Having a few seconds between posts is worthwhile just to inhibit double-posting even without spam/flood fears, imo. However, the 30 second message you're talking about is a search setting, not a flood setting. The issue with search frequency is server load, I believe, but I can't speak knowledgeably on the subject so I'll leave it to vm.

Liv is right. The purpose of that particular switch is to prevent people from overloading the server with repetitious searches. It's probably not a significant issue at this juncture, given the fact that we don't have anything like 500 simultaneous users at any given time, but I am nevertheless reluctant to make any changes that could affect performance adversely at all right now since server slowness is already a concern.

Hmmm... Ok I can certainly understand and respect that, please just keep in mind for the future that the restriction is somewhat annoying for legitimate users just trying to see what new posts there are.
Are their bandwidth levels one can subscribe for? If so PM me and let me know, I might be able to help. I already offered my money to Liv, but she didn't take me up on the offer :D

Consider it in mind. :)

Actually it's not a bandwidth problem, but server processor cycles. And again it's probably not significantly performance degrading, but any impact is too much as I'm already trying to solve the problem of slow response times as it is.

It wasn't the money she refused, just the method of transmission. She knows better than to give her real address out to gun-loving, animal hating strangers she meets on the Internet. :D
Perhaps a compromise could be reached?

Yeah! Oh, and I'm also less than comfortable taking money from site supporters into my personal checking account. It just seems a little too Enron for my tastes.
