We expected them to call when she went into labor, but they waited until after delivery. He was born sometime last evening....I was so shocked that the details kinda flew over my head. I know he was 8 lbs 1 oz and 20.5 inches.

So we are on our way!

Update:

I just got off the phone with Brandi. Nothing too huge to report, yet. She's on the road, less than an hour from her destination (she must have been driving fast!), but still filled with questions about what exactly is going to happen when she gets there.

:vibes:

ETA: I mean "they". They're on the road. When they get there. etc.

Just spoke with Brandi an hour or so ago. They are still on the road, um, "somewhere in Georgia".... I think there was a detour of some sort.

I could not possibly be more excited at this particular moment. I was just over at my grandparent's telling them the whole saga ending with "and he's BORN!" - their response was, "sounds like they are just the right parents for this baby".

That's what I say!

(not to overuse it but...) :woohoo:

A voicemail from Brandi:

We saw the baby this morning, and he's gorgeous; and we should be able to go get him tomorrow morning. They're going to be discharged tomorrow, and we have to see the lawyers blahblahblahblahblah but then we should be able to come home. So if you could post an update, everything went really well, not nearly as emotional as I had feared, and it was just very calm and peaceful, and he's just a beautiful boy, and we're terribly happy.

Consider yourselves updated. :wriggle:

Hotel's wireless was down, so we're at Starbuck's waiting for the call that he's being discharged. Then lunch with the birtharents, then all haul over to the lawyers for a 1 pm appointment, then we can take him partway home. We are only going a few hours tonight, because the hotel here sucked, Suhawanee or something, Georgia. Weird, I just want out of NC with him.

Thanks livius, Lauri, and Jd for posting my updates. Should have 'net tonight. Anyone who want to call, 888-579-1170.

Congrats again, we are all pulling for you

LadyShea

She can revoke consent for 21 days after she signs the paper today. So, she can still change her mind. I have no reason to believe she will revoke, she has his best interests at heart, she put our chosen name on his temp birth cert, she clled me "mom" and congratulated US, but can never say never. No such thing as big rewards without big risks I guess :)

Update: Baby On The Road!

Brandi, Frankie and Cade are finally heading home. Things did not go as quickly as hoped for at the hospital and the lawyers, though Brandi's description of the lunch and goodbyes sounded like it was thankfully less harried, touching and warm. Here's to good drive the next several hours and a quiet evening of new family discovery when they can finally settle into a hotel for the night.

:hearts:  and :hugs: to the new family -- on their way.

I dont find babies to be cute, but yours looks ok.

sorry, but I am pretty sure that I have stated somewhere on this board that all babies are kind of homely.

but this whole things seems to me so much cooler than just going and having a baby. it seems to me that your child will always know that he was wanted by his parents. that's badass. cade is one lucky child. btw, I know it might be alittle late for suggestions but if you are going to go all conquering hero why not pullo or vorenus or my personal favorite genghis?

congratulations. truly.

conquering hero

?? Cade is a conquering hero? I chose it because some baby name site said it meant pure, same as Frankie's mom's name. Alexander is for my mother, Sandra.

Oh you meant Alexander. LOL, we chose masculine versions of our mothers' names.
