I started to learn to fly remote control planes last summer, after my mother and wife ganged up on me to discourage me from flying the real thing ("he's gonna kill himself flying those damn small planes!"). Flying the real thing is also super expensive. Thus, I entered the world of R/C flying and...its fun! and very different from flying the real thing. Took me awhile to learn it. I have wanted to fly R/C since I was a kid. And now I can! Being an adult is sometimes so cool! :P
With the bad winter weather here, though, I was grounded for awhile. Electric planes don't like water very much, be it rain or snow, and we had tons here. Thus, I decided to get an indoor slow flyer, a GWS Pico Stick.
The Pico Stick is basically a stick of balsa, about 1cm by .5cm, with styrofoam wings and tail, battery, servos and an electric engine. Weighs less than a pound, and can fly at slow speeds (about the pace of a quick walk or slow jog).

After assembly, I flew it in a local gym. This last Sunday, the wind was very calm for around here (we seem to get lots of wind in the Burgh, due to the fact that Cleveland blows and Philadelphia sucks!). I took the Pico Stick out and flew in my front yard!
