1. How'd you find the Freethought Forum?

Simply searching through google forum sites, the initial attraction to Freethought Forum was the layout, style and coloring...very soothing to the eye imho. After reading some threads, I knew it was the kind of forum that I wanted to be a member of... and I was particularly moved by indignation to reply to one of Alphamale's post's. lol

2. Are you a member of any other online forums? Which?

Yes

3. How do you feel about smilies (emoticons)?

Love them... You know, often, by using emoticons one can emphasise their meaning more clearly. One is less likely to be misunderstood.

4. How do you feel about 2000+ smilies?

Very comprehensive. Great!

5. Is flaming:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

Well, I'm fairly new to computer terminology, but I understand that the definition of 'flaming' is to be aggressively insulting...(?) To be aggressive or insulting is not really in my nature; as to being on the recieving end of it, any of the above options could be pertinent, depending on what mood I'm in at any given time.

6. Is vulgar language:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

Everyone expresses themselves in their own unique way... it's just words.

7. Why did the chicken cross the road?

Source? :innocent:

8. Who pays for your food?

I do.

9. What's one thing you've always wanted to do but never have?

Explore Titan.

10. What is your single favorite place in the world?

Home.

11. What's the significance of your username?

It's a derivative of my own name.

12. What about your avatar?

No significance whatsoever. er...I believe... :chin:

Such lovely formatting... I'm a sucker for a well-formatted, attractively decorated post. I bet that's the same kind of preference which made FF's layout appealing to you. :yup:

Thank you for going to the trouble of answering the questions. Do you think they're a bit intimidating, maybe? We thought when we created them that they might give people a jumping off point to make intros easier, but I can see how they might have the opposite effect too.

Welcome to FF, Laurie. :welcome1:

Yes! When I was trawling through forums initially, I was definitely attracted to those that displayed a more 'upmarket' layout and had good features... and The coloring of the site is so restful after a long day at work. A great deal of foresight went into the design of the site. :yup:

I didn't find them at all intimidating livius... I only wish I had been more observant when I first registered, I would have been able to introduce myself sooner. I would find just introducing myself cold, without the questions, extremely intimidating, but that's just me...

Welcome to FF, Laurie. :welcome1:

Thank you.

See, now there's your mistake... you should be reading/posting at work.

:welcome: to the :ff:, Laurie.

Just FYI (as pescifish mentioned in another thread) we have a member named "Lauri D", but hopefully it won't be too confusing for people to have two members with phonetically similar names.

You're an :artist: ?

What kinds of things do you do... and does it pay the bills?

Just FYI (as pescifish mentioned in another thread) we have another Lauri here. Her username is "Lauri D", though, so it shouldn't be too confusing for the observant poster.

Oh, ok... :)

That's great, is your house full of your own works or do you sell them all?

Thank you kindly. We did put a lot of work into it, so it's really nice to hear that you found it appealing. Also, are you by any chance using the quick reply multiquote hack? Because it looks like it and if so I have to give you a  for your software feature investigation skills.

Groovy. That's good to hear. We've had the Say Hi, Gracie thread for people who'd rather opt for the brief hello since the beginning, but the questions are more recent inventions.

Welcome, Laurie!

I was particularly moved by indignation to reply to one of Alphamale's post's.My first post on any forum ever was a result of being moved to indignation, if it wasn't for that I might have remained a lurker. I guess offensive trolls have their uses after all.

Art demands photos! Have you visited the Gallery, Laurie? I'd love to see some of your work. And so would many here.

Well worth the wait, Laurie. Thanks for making an Intro thread! ...and I was particularly moved by indignation to reply to one of Alphamale's post's. lolI did the same thing on another board: I had lurked for nearly a year before someone infuriated me enough to post -- I had to sign up to do it!

Of course.

Though it was actually: lurk 3 months, register and post a few throwaway times, lurk another year, get infuriated enough to engage. And then I was hooked. Related chatroom helped. As did the welcome of a friend already solid in the community.
