Man I am so tired, Widget left for Florida this morning and I got up at 7am to make him coffee before he went to the airport.

Then at 7:45am I got the bright idea to start taking the Christmas tree and decorations down... well one thing led to another and I ended up doing all of that and many other things around the house.

I finally just sat down a few minutes ago.

We have a weird german fridge (banned by Greenpeace) that is not frost free :glare: and it has a whack of ice in it.. like 5 inches thick, 30 inches tall, 18 inches across... so I took everything out of the fridge and now I am :waiting: for the ice to fall.

I was going to go run some errands today and get groceries but unless I get a second wind, forget it.

Okay, my whining is done... now you may all hug me :yup:

I need some of your motivation. I want to put the Christmas tree away this weekend, and also do grocery shopping and laundry and all that. I'll be away on vacation the next two weekends (:hyper:) so it needs to get done. But so far I have not been motivated enough to get started.

Oh sheeit don't even mention the word defrost. :lalala: I woke up way early too (5:30!) and am both exhausted and not sleepy. I prefer to think of it as languid rather than lazy, though.

There's always that one little thing that shows up, after you've packed up all the boxes and stowed them at the very back of some very high shelves.

(I've used hairblowers with good results in detaching large blocks of ice from freezers that need defrosting. If you target the surfaces where the ice is attached, then the ice melts there first and the whole block drops off.) :chainsaw:

Widget is in Titusville golfing for a week with the boys, he just called and it is pretty darn cold there in Fla!

I want some of your energy too. I need to remake a work table I found 2nd hand yesterday. I need to make it to my own specs (make it taller, add some shelves, lose the wobbl) before I can get to more.... um.... work.

And then I want some of your Bailey's. :cheers2:

Thanks JoeP

But why the weird old make-you-work-too-hard fridge?

Why? well, first I have to completely empty it... and put whatever I can into another fridge/freezer that's in the garage.... Then the other stuff, like old jars of beets, mayo & horseradish etc.. had to be emptied and cleaned for recycling.... then, all the shelves & drawers had to be pulled out and cleaned except some are frozen in place. locked in a giagantic slab of ice... and won't budge until a couple of more inches of ice melts... this thing won't be done until tomorrow.

OK, Ms Smarty-pants; show me exactly where she said she wants all the hugs. My reading of the thread is that she wants enough hugs - quantity, not some military right-wing masculine I-want-everything attitude.

It's this kind of inventing stuff between the lines that makes the whole stinking liberal conspiracy hollow. You forum guys need a serious dose of strict constructionism. The text says something specific, it doesn't say anything more.

No, no, no.... I mean why do you own such an evil appliance?

Legs
01-07-2006, 10:26 PM
Oh!

It came with the house, and it is built in, so it looks like a cabinet not a fridge. It is too narrow & tall to find a replacement for - we would have to rip out all the cabinets to get a normal fridge in. It is a real pain in the ass, let me tell you.

Also, as I said in my OP, it went bad one day and so I looked inside for a serial # to call for service. It is a Liebherr and when I googled it and only got one hit, Greenpeace! It was on their enviornmentally unfriendly hit list.

Widget's not back for a week and you are clearly on a roll today.

You should forget about defrosting it, rip the neighboring cabinets out with your bare hands and teeth, order a cool new fridge from Next Day Appliances. You'd have several days left to rebuild the cabinets and have time left over to make a martini for Widget's homecoming.

:ww:

This way Greenpeace's Internet bots (sniff: "Liebherr") won't send eco-terrorists to your house to make threats from their Zodiaks parked on your front lawn.

Ensign Steve

Also, total :hijacked: but there is no way this warrants its own thread.

The reason I am up until 6:30 in the morning is that I have been watching my Enterprise, Season 4 DVDs. It occured to me when the closing credits of the final episode came onto the screen, that there is now no Trek episode or movie that I haven't seen. This franchise has been a huge part of my life since I was very little. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to a religion. And now it is over. :sadcheer:

Now I need hugs.

Bye-Bye, Mein Liebherr.
Farewell, mein Liebherr.
It was a fine affair,
But now it's over.
And though I used to care,
I need the Frigidaire.
You're better off without me,
Liebherr.

Don't dab your eye, Liebherr,
Or wonder why, Liebherr.
I've always told you I was a rover.
You musn't knit your brow,
You should have known by now
You'd every cause to doubt me,
Liebherr.

This franchise has been a huge part of my life since I was very little. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to a religion. And now it is over. I felt that way after the close of each of the series: TNG, DS9, Voyager, even Enterprise. That universe has been more constant that any damn thing in my real life, that's for sure.

Thank you for understanding, pesci.

I watched "Pegasus" last night this morning (the episode that Riker and Troi are supposedly in the middle of when they put on the historical holo program that is the Enterprise finale) and it made me feel much better. The opening sequence with "Captain Picard Day" had me in stitches!

I can't get into the books. First off, I don't read. Secondly, I don't consider them canon and that's just :nojustno:

If you follow the trades and the trek fanatic sites (I do) then you know that there was an eleventh film in the writing stage which was called The Beginning. It was to be set in the time after Enterprise and before TOS, supposedly about the infancy of the Federation. Surprisingly, it was not to feature the Enterprise cast, nor any cast that we are familiar with to date. Talk about :nojustno:! Thankfully the project was scrapped last November.

I would post links to articles, but I don't want to make this thread about that.

On Topic:

Today I cleaned and organized my kitchen. Then I unpacked some boxes of kitchen gear mom gave me so it's all disoraganized again and now there piles of paper (no bubble wrap) on the floor. Unwrapping the margarita set made me crave margaritas, go figure.

Then I put two boxes in my car that need to go to charity. They had been sitting on my patio for over a year, and I was tired of walking around them. The box of VHS tapes was too heavy to lift, so I had to drag it along the ground. I managed to lift it the few feet required to put it in the car, and the bottom dropped out, having been mostly worn away by all the dragging. So I just piled all the VHS tapes into the car, all over the back seat and the floor. I didn't actually drive to the goodwill today, so that is most likely how my car is going to look for the next few days.

When I got back upstairs, I found more VHS tapes neatly stacked and politely hidden near some Christmas wrapping stuff that I was about to put away. I started piling them into a trash bag to take to the car when I noticed the titles and realized that they weren't for charity. So I upturned the bag, and now my formerly neatly stacked and politely hidden VHS tapes are in a pile on my love seat.

For someone who cleaned and organized all day, my house (and car) sure is a fucking disaster!

On the plus side, my photos on my computer are more organized than they've been in a very long time. Do I know how to procrastinate or what?
