Whenever I try to place a smilie it always ends up at the bottom of my post no matter where I have tried to place it.
What is going on? :fuming:

Which browser are you using, Ex-zombie? I've noticed that happening in Firefox but not in IE.

Yep, I am using Firefox.

I will switch to IE and see if that takes care of it.

Thanks, Liv.

Thanks, Liv.firefox puts it at the end for me as well.

so now I just select cut and paste it which does indeed put it where I want it.

Please, don't switch to I.E. Just suffer with smiley placement. You will be happier, and you won't even know why.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that.

Scotty, you are right. IE annoys the hell out of me.

I know vm is going to look into devising a fix for the Firefox placement issue as well. Until then, cut and paste or insert smilies as you go will definitely do the trick. :)

Actually I applied a fix from vBulletin, but it didn't work. I'll keep looking though.

I may have found the solution to the problem. Apparently the javascript that makes up the editor is cached, and so you have to open a new reply then press ctrl-F5 to force a refresh of the cache before you start using the updated script. I'm going to test right now by inserting a smilie into this paragraph. If I am successful in doing so I will post this, if not you won't be reading this.

Nah, my only feat was reading and comprehending the thread at vBulletin's site. :)

Yep, every step toward making Firefox more compatible is a good one, IMO.

This post is a test  to see if the smilie patch works on Mozilla.

So you have to hit 'refresh' every time you make a post?

No it should be just once, so you can replace your cached copy of the bad script with the new, functional script. Or have you found otherwise?

vm,
(1) you are a genius
repeat after me:
"I am a genius"

(2) even if you weren't being a genius in some particular situation, never challenge the humble user who wants to praise you!
