Not something that you did, or didn't do, but what do you feel sorry for? e.g. kids that get hurt, but it's their own fault. Animals that get plastered on the road. People who get hurt because they hand-launch bottle rockets etc.
I feel compassion, but not for beings that are hurt due to their own stupidity.
I took a trip through town the other day with my father when he came for a visit; he ran over a dog. It was the dog's own damn fault though: it ran across the lawn and out into the road, barking like a crazy person off their meds and ran under the front left tire. *bump* Darwin award goes to that dog.
So, I feel sorry for people who don't have food and can't get food. I feel sorry for people who are killed by drunk drivers, because the drunk is too retarded to stay out of a car for a few hours. I feel sorry for nerds, geeks, otaku etc. who have a social life more unfulfilling than my own. I feel sorry for the children of JWs who die because their brain-dead parents won't allow them to get blood transfusions. I feel sorry for children born with progeria.

If it ran out across a lawn, I assume it was owned by someone? In that case, it was the owners fault, not the dogs. Dogs can't comprehend things like moving car -> me under bumper -> painful death. So assigning them blame is stupid.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that claim, TJ. My dog steers clear of cars, and I never taught it to. My cats stay away from them as well, ditto on not ever teaching them. So the dog in question doesn't know what a car is, it can see it's a big animal, at least that's probably what they think it is, so the tiny dog is an idiot: because what could such a huge animal do to them? Hurt them pretty badly is what. If it were say a buffalo instead of a car, well, it could stomp their ass into the ground.

That's an excellent point. I feel sorry for animals whose caretakers are irresponsible.

Sorry, I disagree. If the caretaker were responsible, this should not have happened. The dog should never have run into the street in a misguided attempt to chase the "beast". He should have been on a leash or behind a fence.
Yes, some dogs are dumber than others. I've met cats who had no street smarts, but most either are indoor cats or exceedingly rare (and lucky). Dogs should not chase cars nor livestock. Either will shorten its life quickly. It is the responsibility of the human caretakers to prevent those events from happening.
