Im afraid i just find the timing of this a little to convenient. :fuming: That report came out that said that Saddam absolutly wasnt planning on attacking us, and he didnt even have the capability to if he wanted to. And then we have the debate tonight.

Law-enforcement officials say someone described as a captured Iraqi insurgent had downloaded school floor plans from elementary and high schools in six states.

Can you really download elementory school floor plans from the internet?

The good news is that this threat was deemed not credible.

If its not credible why have the let this news out? So all the mothers can complety freak out!!!!

Homeland security is advising school leaders nationwide to watch for people spying on buildings and buses, or anyone looking for school site plans, bus routes or attendance lists.

We have to advise our schools to watch out for people spying on buildings and buses? :thinkup: This isnt very comforting for me.

And lets not forget the closing words from the Veep debate.
Edwards=Hope
Cheney=Fear

I think it just another way to scare middle America, and we know they have no problem doing just that.

I'm with you, Jewels. This is textbook fearmongering, and particularly noxious given the recent horror in Russia. :nono:

Well, it wouldnt be as scary if the Russian thing hadnt just happened. Lets remember, you have to get them while its fresh in the mind.

Yeah no kidding. What I want to know is which school leaders were totally fine with people "spying on buildings and buses, or anyone looking for school site plans, bus routes or attendance lists" before Homeland Security shared its wisdom.

Well, we do share a border with Canada and I hear they have highly sophisticated attack submarines now.

:rolleye1:

On a side note, is anyone else tired of hearing how "safe" America is now that we have attacked Iraq, yet, we are inundated with these vague threat warnings?

Anyone else remember that the domestic terror attack in Oklahoma occurred in 1995 and we didn't suffer another terror attack until six years later...even without any Homeland Security department?

I do.

Yeah but that was 'cause they caught Timothy "Muhammad" McVeigh. If his Al Queda cell was still operative (i.e. Saddam's funding hadn't been cut off because of the sanctions following the first Gulf war) surely it would've happened much sooner.

I think his "cell" may have simply been "elected".

Any more news on anti-government militias here in the US?

Hmmmmm...
