I just kept wandering around the forest. Found a canyon and the locked grating, but that's about it. Couldn't find my way back to the house, so I just quit.

The edition of Zork that I played came with a hilarious booklet. There were a bunch of 'activities' at the end of chapters, as if it were a text book.

My favorite started out by instructing the reader to get a group of friends and ride up and down the country side robbing and pillaging. The next step was to interview the populace and ask them what it felt like to live in a lawless state.

The raft is either for the reservoir, which I think you've already found, or for the river in the canyon that you get to via the forest around the house where the game starts.

Does anyone know what you do after you've found the skeleton? I am totally lost :(. I found a walkthrough but the instructions it gives are wrong.. you just can't go south west from the skeleton (or whatever direction it is it tells you to go) so I can't get any further.

Also, there's supposed to be a troll and I did not have one *pouts*.

don't eat the peppers.. you need them later. If you can get through the troll maze you will be my new best friend. BTW I don't HAVE a troll in my game though apparently there is meant to be one there. Tell me if you get a troll!

I don't have any peppers, but I'm fully loaded: sack with lunch, garlic, leaflet and newspaper; bottle with water; brick, rope, knife, elvish sword and lantern. No really, I can't pick up anything else.

I retrieved the jewel-encrusted egg, but otherwise I'm a dumbass: I can't open the grating, all I can do with the canyon is wander in it, and I still don't know what the hell to do with the rug so as to get to the trapdoor. I refuse to look for walkthroughs, but pity hints in this thread will be accepted. :)

just type move rug :) But if you've not yet got into the trapdoor you've done virtually nothing .. most of the action is down there ;)

here's a hint .. drop most of your stuff except the lamp. You can't get OUT of the trap door with more than two things.

Man, I got lots of stuff! I got the grail and the painting. :) I haven't found the raft yet. I'm back at the coffin; I had too much stuff last time, and now even that I've stashed the grail and painting I still have to drop something useful. [/pout]

Is the troll room the one with bloodstains and axe marks? I haven't met a troll yet. If that's the troll room then yes, I can tell you how to get out. :D

Ooooo tell me! But have you actually gone through the maze? I can get as far as the skeleton and the bag of coins but I can't get further than that :(

No, I reckon I haven't; I haven't encountered the skeleton and bag o' coins. In fact, right now I'm all jammed up, I suspect because I need the raft. The damn coffin's too big to carry out on foot.

Anyway, at the altar, if you pray, you're transported back out to the forest! Then it's easy-peasy back to the house. If you haven't found the altar I'll track back through my notes to see how I got there.

I don't want to go any further till I get out of the troll maze .. that's apparently important and I don't want to do the rest till I have solved that :(. When you get into the maze you just blunder about South and Eastwards and then at one point type Up and you'll find the skeleton (take the coins but DO NOT touch the skeleton itself!). But then I am stuck.
