I've been asked to be a part of a drug research study to test the safety and effectivenesse of an experimental drug.

Its for a drug fondly called CNTO1275. It's a Fully human anti-IL-12 Monoclonal Antibody. It sticks to and blocks the activity of interleukin 12 and interleukin 23.
(So basically it will be an immunosupressent)

There has been one limited trial done already (On moderate psorisis, MS and crohn's) with a total of 300 people world wide being in that study.

Now I've been in other trials, but only for drugs that have already been approved for treating one thing, but they are looking at its effects on another, Plus I was part of Canada's study on Imitrex in people under the age of 18 (After it was already approved)

But all of them were for drugs that were already approved in the US/ Europe...

There are some known side effects already, Including little things like headaches and light headness, chest infections...to a higher risk for TB and even cancer assiociated with the last trail (But it was much to small to say if it was or wasnt involved or so they say)

Would you participate?

No.

I don't much like taking drugs that have already been tested, so no guinea pigging for me.

If its a potential treatment for a disease I already have where no other treatment exists or is effective, I might. But probably not for most other reasons.

I started one, but dropped out when I realized I wasn't getting nearly enough money to allow them to poke me in a vein once a week.
