It Can't Happen Here (http://www.iblist.com/book14310.htm) is one of my favorites. Several years ago, after reading Elmer Gantry, I went on a Sinclair Lewis binge. I came across this book in my little local library and had chills all the way through. Over time, things would make me think of the book, but none more sharply than when Bush was appointed president.

I've often wondered why no publisher has ever reprinted it, surely someone would buy it. I was even dishearted for a bit this morning when I couldn't find an online version. I finally did, though (http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/l/lewis/sinclair/happen/). Whew.

I've also wished they'd make a movie of this, but not muck it up the way they did Elmer Gantry.

What books would you like to see brought back from literary purgatory?

The works of Thorne Smith, author of the hilarious Topper books. Some of my favorite authors, such as Lord Dunsany and Clark Ashton Smith are slowly retuning to print but not quickly or completely.

Masayoshi Nagata's Local Rings. Sadly, it's been out of print for about as long as I've been alive. :(

Also Fossum's The Divisor Class Group of a Krull Domain, which has been out of print since at least the 80's.

Okay, this is going to sound goofy, but my number once most adored unfindable book is a 70s pulp paperback called Erotic Legacy, the story of a fine cocksman whose rich great uncle leaves him his fortune on condition that 12 specific women scattered across the globe within a week. Oh, and the uptight lawyer has to witness all the acts or it's no go.

I can't for the life of me remember the author, but it was one of the funniest things I'd ever read. I brought it to school in 8th grade and some bitch stole it out of my locker. :bull:

I've been looking for it to no avail ever since. :sadnana:

One of my favorite books when I was a little kid was Too Many Lollipops (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0819308250/qid=1097797033/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-9507472-8807909?v=glance&s=books) by Robert Quackenbush. (Anyone else read him--the Henry the Duck stories?) They have it around various places used--but it's pricey. Didn't realize they were out of print until I started looking for them for my own kids.
