If we ever have a trivia night on chat I'm totally sidling up to you.
That would be way cool. It might even get me into chat here. :) 'Cause you know, we're all nerds anyway, right? Aren't we supposed to play chess and Trivial Pursuit and do crosswords and stuff?
I don't know exactly how it would work, though, as far as questions and things like that. But I just thought I'd try to give the idea a little more attention. :yup:

Oh well, shameless flattery in the title is a surefire way to get my attention, I tell you whut. I do seriously love the idea, though.
We could just start off supereasy with an official questioner using actual Trivial Pursuit cards. We could have individuals answering, or since we can create as many offshoot rooms as we want, we could have teams each with their own huddle space.
Oh! Oh! We could have at least one FF-specific trivia question per night, like how many smilies were there on the evening of October 13th. :giggle:
Man, this is so going to rule.

Would it be hopelessly pathetic to point out that the answers on Trivial Pursuit cards are wrong A LOT? (I think the original versions were OK, but in some of the more recent editions, we found a fuckload of mistakes.)

Not at all pathetic ( :cough: nerd). I've noticed several errors on genus IV, but to tell you the truth, I generally think TP went to shit after genus III. It got all, well, American. They even removed the Pope quote from the side of the box. I mean... What the hell? That was so money.

Ooh! Sounds like fun. I know lots of useless stuff!

Y'all are all talk. Or wait... you're not even that. All these posts about the chat, and there's not even anyone in there.
You can get trivia 'bots for irc. I don't know how easy/hard it would be to port one to this chat, or if it'd even be possible. Are there any scripting features for this chat?

Bots? We don't need no steenkeen bots. Actually, I have no idea if it's possible, but I think I'd prefer the personal touch, at least to begin with.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I know almost nothing about this chat, but I do know that it's open source and people have written various hacks for it. I've never even looked to see what's available though. Here's (http://tufat.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=13) the relevant forum at the Flashchat site if you want to have a look around yourself. I'm definitely open to extending the functionality as desired.

Click on Member Options - Chat. We've got our own, but needless to say, it's sorely underused. :shy:

This place has its own chat, but as far as I can tell it's never used. A very few here do still participate on #infidelchat, which is still going strong.

Suit yourself. It was just a suggestion.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, y'all.
Now, did it really censor me or does it have customizable profanity filters? I swear, all I did was quote a line from a South Park movie song, and it came up with all "@#$%&^&" and stuff.

Hmph. I was told by somebody who shall remain nameless but whose initials are viscous and memories that he had disabled that stupid thing.

Oops. Sorry, I had disabled it in the previous version but forgot to do it again when I upgraded. I've removed it again now. Feel free to shower vulgarity upon the crowd.

I so want to participate in some asskicking trivia action.
the last person to challenge me at trivial pursuit
got spanked, he only had 2 pie pieces when I answered 5 questions in a row from a category of his choice for victory.

Well, I absolutely suck at trivia.
I do enjoy marveling at the abilities of others, though.

Sweetness... I'll go ahead and see about tossing together some questions. When's a good time for everybody? Weekends are always slow on the board, but Sunday night is inevitably well-populated. Shall we aim for then?

Sunday nights are okay for me usually.
