Now that cherry-blossom time is here.
The cherry trees, ornamental and fruiting, are in bloom here in Puddle city. We've got a few nice places where Japanese ornamental cherries have been planted in abundance, but nothing can compare to the Japanese love of the cherry blossoms...and Kyoto is the cultural center of that tradition.
The Philosopher's Walk along the base of the Higashiyama is probably at, or near, the peak of it's annual beauty (and probably crowded with hordes of Japanese tourists there to see them).
