you bought a Brazillian old map chequebook? You have to pay for chequebooks there?! :)

You can get free ones (although there are always restocking and shipping fees), but if you want them with pretty designs or carbon copies or fancy fonts you have to pay.

(Brazilian is a jocose version of bajillion; big number, basically.)

It's definitely cheques.

Checks is what you do when you, um, check something.

I can't see paying for something like that which I'm just going to give away and then they end up at a bank anyway.

So... Do you cash your cheque at the banque? Or, do you have banks, like we do? We bank on things, too. As well as depositing money in banks. Same word, two different usages.

Just like check.

You do know that "que" stuff is Frenchie stuff that you guys adopted from the bastard and his friends.

I'll bet you have to queue up in the banque, don't you?

We just get in line.

I just chequed my supply of lemons and honey, and I'm almost out of both. I'd better to baque to the supermarket and get some more. I may pay by check.

I pronounce them "Czech". And I cash them at the credit union or at Banc One.

They aren't mutually exclusive! Typos can become perfectly legitimate long-running jokes.

I can't see paying for something like that which I'm just going to give away and then they end up at a bank anyway.
:glare: Bastard. No need to make quite so much sense.

Why? Is this place supposed to be nonsensical now?

Perhaps I'll go find someplace to start a serious thread about checks, then.

Speaking of banks. I just recieved a revised fee schedule from our business bank, all the service fees going up, of course and then there was this --> Effective immediately we are initializing a 'Deposit Fee' for all cash deposits because of the service involved in having to count cash. We are pleased to allow cheque deposits at no additional fee.

So, the bank doesn't want your cash, it's too much work to count? :twitch:
