Recently, after seeing a brief discussion of the online journals here, I decided to take a look. One problem I had was with the layout of the journals. The entries all begin with the most recent. This makes it rather awkward to read those journals that have multiple entries. I looked in several places, but I can't find a way to control this behavior. Am I missing something and can't find the proper setting, or do I just have to live with the way it is?

The journal options are really rudimentary, no question about that. Out of all the hacks we have installed here, the journal is the only one which is truly a coding nightmare. It was cobbled together from a previous version and although vm (possibly with the help of JoeP) might be able to modify it to add some valuable options like entry order or more ignore options, I suspect it would be a pretty big bitch of a job.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however. One of the coders on the vB.org site has released a far more feature-rich journal which looks damn good so far. We're waiting on an import script before installing it, though, or else we'll lose all the journals we already have which, needless to say, would suck out loud.
So I guess what I'm saying is that for now you're probably going to have to live with it the way it is, but you won't have to for long. :)

Thanks for the info, livius. Yes, I can imagine that would be a bitch to modify, and probably isn't worth the effort. I can wait.
Hey, I heard my name. Although I agree with wade's and the tribune's assessment of the journal feature, I have to point out my attention is elsewhere (unread status).

Hey cool. I'm the tribune. I like it. I also like the sound of that attention-sucking project you speak of.

Well I'll be damned... I can't believe I missed it the first time. :foggy:
Perhaps I can make ammends for my oversight with him: :ddino:

:ddino: definitely makes amends for the oversight. Now, Ms Spelling Nazi, how are you going to make amends for spelling ammends that way? :tongueout:

I make the same mistakes all the time. The right way just looks wrong to me for some reason. I do that with pronunciation too.

Mistakes! I made a mistake once, it was the time I thought I was wrong, but I was right. :tongueincheek:

I'd be more likely to believe that if you hadn't said it in a run-on sentence. :giggle:
