View Full Version : I just had some chitchat at the supermarket with...

...a woman in a full burkha. All she had was the wee slit for her peepers. She was from Somalia.

I was behind her in the queue and her two little boys sitting in the trolley were being too cute, so I laughed at them and said something cheeky, and the woman looked up at me and laughed too. So we started to chat while we waited. She was so nice! And I could hear her laugh and her eyes were all smiling and stuff. I felt good hearing her laugh and talking with her.

:vibes:

(She definitely made the checkout operator uneasy, though - poor ol' gal didn't know where to look).

They are ugly, fo'sure.

Don't know quite why it tickled me so much to chitchat with her, but it did. :)

edit:

I gotta stay off these message boards when I'm really tired. FF is a bit dirty at times, but the OP was very clean and innocent, so I won't send this thread down the path of evil, chaos, and destruction.

Good for her, it must be hard to show personality from within a potato sack...

What worries more is being from Somalia she has probably been a victim of FMG.

Burkas never have bothered me. As long as I can see a persons eyes Im good.

I liked her. And I think she liked me. I'd love to have the opportunity to speak with her again. And to laugh. That was by far the nicest bit. :D

There are a few Somali refugees in Christchurch (NZ), but I didn't see any of the women wearing burkhas, they wore head covers and these beautifully coloured robes. You see a few burkhas round London though.

The Somali immigrants I knew in Rome wore white cotton robes which could be wrapped into a head covering sort of like a cowl. Very beautiful and delicate.

I hope you bump into her again, Petra. You should get her number or go get coffee or something next time. :yup:

P.S. - Yes Perry, you are sick. Very, very sick.
