One for Sorrow

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides Walk was on Saturday in Chapel Hill, and our team, Allan's Avengers, raised $615 for CF research. Thank you all so much for the support.

There was a pretty good turnout, actually, although I only saw a few people that I knew. I know a few of UNC's nurses were there, although I didn't recognize any of them. However, a nutritionist recognized me.

The concert last weekend brought in a lot of people, and the music was pretty good. I met a girl with CF that Allan used to chat with via IM, and also the people who organized the concert and compiled the CD. Hopefully the concert raised awareness. So many people have never even heard of cystic fibrosis, and if they have, they don't really have a clue what it is.

All in all, I think it went well. They were somewhat sad days, to be reminded of him and how we all lost him way too soon, and knowing that if any good comes from the money raised, it's too late for Allan. But, looking around at the three and four year old kids with CF that were at the walk... it's not too late for them. They could benefit from more research and the possible better treatments that could result, and maybe be spared Allan's fate.

Again, thanks for the support and encouragement.
