I'm a total sucker for Survivor singing the goofy Starbucks version of "Eye of the Tiger" (Roy! Roy, Roy, Roy! :giggle:) and for Willie Nelson's great rendition of "You Were Always on My Mind" in that jeans commercial with the chick who throws the flowers out the window at her departing ex.
Anyone else have some guilty commercial pleasures?

I'm a total sucker for the car commercial that features "I've got the world on a string". I understand that the version used is arranged completely differently than the original, but I love it so. Also, I can't even remember which car is being advertised, I just know that it's one I'll never afford.
Also, I dig Mazda's "Zoom Zoom Zoom". Don't hate me for it, pity me.

That song is the reason why I'll never buy a Volkswagen. Ever. I'd rather be carless for the rest of my life than buy a VW.

To answer the OP: I've always loved the McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" songs. They are not only catchy, but they remind me of the value of a...
Okay, sorry. I can't keep a straight face while doing this shit. :D
That's why I'm usually a horrible liar.

My not-quite 4 year-old son will start singing this if the ad comes on. He started doing it during the Olympics, when that ad got a lot of airplay.

To seriously answer the OP this time: Part of Tomayasu Hotei's Battle Without Honor or Humanity was featured recently in a Jaguar commercial, I believe.
Now that's one of those songs that I don't think will ever get old for me. I could listen to that over and over. :listenin:

Man, I was ready to whup you when I read that McDonald's thing. You redeemed yourself with the Hotei, however. Excellent call. :music:

Trade the baseball bat for a riding crop, and you've got a deal. :D

Thanks. I've been meaning to buy some CDs of his. Actually, I'll probably do that after my next paycheck comes in. Has anyone heard any of Hotei's stuff other than Battle Without Honor or Humanity?

Mug root beer used to have a commercial on Comedy Central using "Love Train." That was the best. I also (stereotypically, I know) dig whats-their-names playing whats-it-called in the recent Mitsubishi commercials, the one they ruined with the follow-up commercial where they interpolated "Spongebob Squarepants." <grrrr>
Rare exceptions. I hate commercials. I was raised on public TV. If I were head of the FCC, I would do everything in my power to ban (or at least minimize) commercials. (Hey, a guy can dream, right?)

A couple years ago Day's Inn ran commercials with the Rascals song Its a Beautiful Morning. I heard it nearly every morning as I was getting ready for work, and it never failed to make me smile & sing.... "aaaahhh, I think I'll go outside for awhile...."

I must be a glutton for punishment....
For the longest time I loved the Spongemonkeys from Quiznos commercials. I used to go around shouting-screeching the song at the top of my lungs. Mostly to annoy my wife, who hated the commercials and the bizarre little creatures.

It's good to know that there is at least one other person amongst you Philistines who appreciates quality entertainment (http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song/) .

I love "burst into song" moments. I love stupid musicals and stupid commercials like that. Love the Eye of the Tiger commercial, despite the fact that I have always hated that song. Love Wayne Brady's Say a Little Prayer for You coffee creamer commercial, love the Rubberband Man office supply commercials, the "Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea! YAY! PEPTO-BISMOL!" commercial, and just about any over-the-top display of musical exhuberance.
I don't buy the crap they're advertising, and often don't even remember what it is they are advertising, but I like it all the same. People just need to burst into song more. (I've seen it happen spontaneously about three times in my life. Not nearly enough.)

Oh yeah, I forgot about those. Love 'em. I liked the Quiznos commercials, too. On many an occasion, for no apparent reason, I would burst out with "they got a peppa baaaahhhr!"

Oh yeah. :) I don't love all of them, but there's one: the dude singing about eBay. Not the chick. Although I don't hate the commercial with the chick, come to think of it, which is better than the default.

Two come to mind, from way, way back in the '70s. I still find myself singing these...
It's raisins that make Post Raisin Bran so wonderful
It's raisins that make Post Raisin Bran so marvelous
More raisins! Lots more raisins!
More raisins than you have ever see before
If you like raisins, fat juicy raisins
You'll like Post Raisin Bran more!
And this one was local, in the Indianapolis area. It was for a bank, and the music was sort of skiffle ragtime indescribable...
Ten ten ten ten for two
Gonna boogie on through
Gonna make you green
When you're feeling blue
Let Merchants Bank lay the numbers on you
Ten ten ten for two
Ya da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da
Da da da-da daaaa da
Ten! Ten! Ten for two!
(Cha!)
Yeah, I don't understand it either.

I rarely watch much TV other than the occasional baseball game. So I am rarely able to answer questions like this. But then comes October, and the playoffs. So recently I have been watching a lot of TV. I can't say that there are any "made for TV" tunes that strike me at all. I have seen a few commercials using classic rock tunes that I like. There's a blue jeans commercial, for example, that's using The Steve Miller Band's Keep On Rockin' Me, Baby.

Almost all of the TV I watch is timer taped, so the commercials get zapped. On the rare occasion that something gets watched as it's broadcast, the commericals get muted. On the radio, mostly I just flip channels when the ads come on.

I remember a Honda (I think it was) motorcycle commercial from the early '90's advertising some crotch-rocket bike with some kind of cool rock guitar music and the lyrics "Ride with me." (all I can remember). I remember thinking it was cool at the time. I seem to recall the ad got pulled amid some controversy because it showed people doing dangerous things with motorcycles
I also remember the music from some ad, very long time ago, in the '80's, I don't even remember what it was for. A video game, maybe, I remember there being some sort of godzilla-like monster involved. I do remember it was so cool that I recorded the sound. I've since lost the tape. But I heard the exact same music used as a DJ's background music on KLOL (big rock station here in houston) not too long, just a few months ago and I recognized it as being the same music, so I'm not the only one who thoght it was cool, whatever it was. Wish I had more details. It was some kind of synthy-fake-guitar sounding stuff.
There was a TV show called Hunter with theme music that appeared to be somewhat of a modification of Deep Purple's "Knockin' at Your Back Door" (my college roommate disputed this, but he was musically illiterate) that was pretty cool.
What can I say, I like bombastic, show-off guitar playing.

I love the Hummer commercial that utilized The Who's Happy Jack song, the one where the kid builds the Hummer out of wood. It made me dig out my Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy cassette tape to listen to all over again.

I just saw a commercial that featured The Band doing The Weight. Man, I love that tune. I couldn't tell you what the commercial was for, but I sang along with the whole first verse!
I pulled into Nazareth, I was feeling 'bout half past dead.
Hey mister can you tell me where a man might find a bed?
He smiled and shook my hand; "no" was all he said.
[chorus]
Take a load off Fanny,
Take a load for free,
Take a load off Fanny,
And... And... And... And, you put a load, you put a load right on me!
