I must humble request you remove your avatar. I find myself facinated by it and have several times been sucked into just watching it for several minuits at a time. :lecher:

Alternatly....could you please tell me where you got such a cool avatar?

*edited to add Oh Snap (http://houseohsnap.ytmnd.com/)

(Husband what husband? Oh that husband? :innocent: Naw he's off watching that Faith Hill chick....)

Hahaha, you're not the only one, I've been drooling over CC's avatar as well. Huge Laurie is such a sexy man, even when grouchy, limping, and going "Oh snap!"

If you want him to remain sexy, I'd counsel against viewing Jeeves And Wooster reruns on PBS.

Okay... I'm clueless on this.

I know it's Huge Lorry as Dr. House, but it's the usage and context of what he's saying that escapes me. What the hell does "Oh, snap!" mean in the context?

I've heard "It's a snap," meaning something is easy.

Is he a Rice Crispies fan?

Is a "ponce" the same as a "poofter"?

Essentially, but I'd suggest "ponce" includes for a stronger presumption of effeminacy.

(Christ, can you tell I've been writing a legal brief all day?)

A ponce in Ingerland is someone who is always borrowing things.

Nowadays, anyway. I have no idea how the word started out.

I thought a ponce was an effeminate guy - though not necessarily gay. I'm not familiar with the 'borrower' meaning.

Leesifer

Really, cep?

Perhaps it's an Essex thing. When someone is constantly borrowing things, particularly, money, they are called a ponce.

I vaguely remember seeing that episode where he said the "Oh, snap!" comment. It was just sarcasm pure and simple in response to what somebody said which I unfortunately cannot no longer recall.

I used to hear it in a rap song when I was a kid, it meant something like "Oh Shit!". I thought it was cool, so did my friends. I have used it most of my life, I think.

Well, I'll be doggone! I was right. Thanks!Only thing is, I don't think I ever heard the song that they listed as starting the song. Maybe it (the phrase) was already common by the time I heard it.

Edit, I have, I just looked at the lyrics. But it still isn't the song I used to listen to.

It sure seems like the "Oh, snap!" exclamation is a euphemism for "Oh, crap!"

AKA "Huge Lorry" to wags hereabouts. You don't know him? I thought he'd be, like, a staple on Brit TV. He's actually a relatively recent addition to USer TV, although he's been coming through on various BBC imports on our public broadcasting system (PBS). Between "Jeeves and Wooster" with Stephen Fry, and "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" and innumerable "Blackadder" programs, I thought he'd be quite recognizable o'er in the isles.
