My older brother and sister-in-law just bought their first home. It has such a cool backyard. Technically it might not be on their property, but for all purposes it might as well be, because the people who might own it have been done with it for decades, or longer(the company is 120 years old). Anway, what it is is a smallish(but not tiny), old novaculite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novaculite) rock quarry. Rappelling, gathering free rocks of a type that can be found only in a few other places on Earth and just hanging out there are all options.
They're also going to be quite a bit closer to where I live, so I'll get to see them more.

That sounds great! It's interesting to have a unique locale such as you describe. When will you be able to visit? Maybe you'll be able to do some more of your art photography.

You mean the next time? I was just there today, no, yesterday, now that it's after 12 here. We're cleaning up the place. The house is a good deal, but a fix-'er-upper. I've found some neat "junk" I'm going to keep, that came with the house, but most of the stuff that came with the house is junk. Actually, the "junk" isn't junk because I think the stuff looks cool(milled metal parts that must have been made to do something, what I don't know) and have a use for it(art)
Otherwise it'd be scrap metal, like where a lot of the stuff is going. Or paper and wood, which is burned. Pretty funny looking through the old stuff that came with the house. There's quack books on self healing, meaning of life stuff, you get the idea. The books are kind of old, early 70s at least.
That very thought hit me when I first went down in the place, it's very valley like. Very unlike the other quarries around that I go to. Should make some interesting photos.

You mean the next time?Oh, cool! I wasn't sure. :)
Should make some interesting photos.Yeah. I bet some of that "junk" would make for some great photos, too, from the descriptions you gave of them.
